Mary Kay? What do you think??

Jacinda, on December 20, 2012 at 8:15 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

Ok ladies, let's here it. What do you think of Mary Kay's products? I was contacted by a rep about doing my bridal make up. I am a little hesitant because A- its Mary Kay and B- I've never used it before. She assured me I could do a free trial run which of course would help make my decision. It would be extremely cheap for me and my girls, but sometimes the money is not as important as the final product. So what do you ladies think? Has anyone used Mary Kay and have great results?? The most important thing to me that it LAST all day! I don't want something that is going to smere off which one tear drop!

I am a cosmetic snob, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I was at one of those parties a few years ago, and bought a couple of items. I threw them away within a few days.

I haven't used Mary Kay in over a decade but there was a time when I swore by their mascara and kinda liked their lipstick. I say do a trial and see if it works for you. I quit wearing it when their foundation formula changed.

Now, I spend way too much on (mostly) Jane Iredale and Urban Decay but my fave product ever is Physician's Formula mascara... I add that to say, it isn't always about price in either direction. Something cheap might work best for you in the end!! Good luck with your decision.

I LOVE Mary Kay products. I have very sensitive skin and won free makeover from the Bridal Show I attended and it was awesome. I'm hooked and in love. finally found products that I can use and look great in. A little pricey for somethings but for the most part I buy what I know I'm going to use. My E-pics were very pretty and my FH loves it. But hey that's my opinion. Hope u find something u like.

Will the rep actually apply the make-up or will she tell you how to do it?

I am a Mary Kay consultant for personal use only. I signed up to receive the 50% discount for myself & my family. I have extremely sensitive skin and Mary Kay works for me. I use everything from their facial cleansers, moisturizers, masks, lotions, nail polishes, make-up and everything in-between. I personally love Mary Kay make-up. I like the foundations, concealers, mascaras, eye liners, blushes, and bronzers. I will also be wearing Mary Kay the day of my wedding! I think it will no doubt last the entire day. My daily make-up that I put on every morning last throughout the day. I would take her up on the trial run to test the product and her make-up skills out of yourself, that will help you make a decision.

Take the free trial, it's free after all and that's really the only way you'll know you like it. I use Mary Kay (oh but I'm a rep ;P) and I love most of the skin care product and I get the mineral powder because it's treats my skin much better than bare minerals and is less $! There are really great eye colors to be had, LOVE the lip gloss and the lash lengthening mascara. It's not for everybody and it's mainly for everyday wear, but I did wear it on my wedding day and it held up well and my only regret was not going with nuetral eyes, but that's not the product's fault Smiley winking.
But still, I'd say go with the free trial. You aren't obligated to buy anything and you can probably walk away with some samples Smiley smile

Helpful hint-- I would look into airbrush makeup for the big day- we did that for my brothers wedding and it was FABULOUS. I never needed to touch up, reapply or "powder" the whole entire day/night!

I'm kind of a makeup snob, but I do like their moisturizers and they have a cleanser/conditioner for hands that I really like too.

I wouldn't say I'm a makeup snob: I will use products at all price points, provided that they are good products. I will not use Mary Kay. Since it's a free trial, you can give it a shot, but you should also try some other brands.

I am not a big make up person - I generally just buy make up at CVS because I hate spending money on it. I have been to a few Mary Kay parties mostly to support friends. I thought a lot of the products were the same quality as my CVS stuff.

I say go for the trial and see if you like it. Clearly there are a lot of different opinions about it. A word of advice - if you don't like it do not let them bully you into buying it! Some of the Mary Kay people can be very persistent!

I was called by a rep through David's Bridal & me & my ladies were all gung ho to to go but half way to the party I got a call saying she (the rep) was runnin behind due to a hair salon appt. which was no biggie, I mean it would've only been a 10 min. wait or so, But then she called me a 2nd time to tell me she didn't have a key to get into the studio to be used. I was supposed to resch. but to me that was just poor cust. srvc. Needless to say I haven't called back nor heard from her again. I do like MaryKay's facial products & the hand polishing products. I have sensitve skin too.

I'm a HUGE fan of Mary Kay mascara. The best there is, in my opinion. I can pretty much take or leave any of their other stuff.

I love it! I have blemish problems, and my advisor is actually a high-school classmate, so I trust her really well. Mary Kay products are the only facial products I've ever used that actually worked without leaving my skin feeling dry and cracked or oily and blemished. I would recommend it to anyone, and I'm certainly going to use it for my wedding day.

I used Mary Kay for years. Probably 10-12 years. Then I discovered Mineral Fusion. I still have many of my Mary Kay shadows and use them. I had very good experiences with Mary Kay. I switched as I ran out of Moisturizer and needed one NOW. I was buying my Mary Kay on eBay. I found Mineral Fusion and converted.

I have to agree i threw away my mary kay stuff in a few days bc it gave me a rash! yikes. but i tried Arbonne products bc they're all organic, and vegan! No mineral oil in their products & gluten free! I love them lol & i ended up becoming a consultant in dec. I do not do wedding make up of course bc im not good like that! but if you're interested you should def look into their products its amazing stuff!
