Maryland/DC brides.. bachelorette ideas??

Nicole, on April 29, 2013 at 6:24 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16

MOH and I are looking for some bachelorette party ideas. We would like to stay somewhat local (within a few hours drive) and I live right in between Baltimore and DC. We were thinking about going to Seacrets in OC, but decided we're going there for my birthday this weekend so we don't want to do that twice. But something with a similar experience would be great! Or even something more laid back would be fine! What are you guys doing for yours?

I was going to say Seacrets... so I'm zero help! I love OC though.

My party isn't for a while but my plan was doing a girls spa day and then getting a hotel for one night in Georgetown and going out to dinner and then to a bar or something!

@RomaT I love OC too! I'm actually from the Eastern Shore but moved closer to DC a couple years ago. So the beach is my first love, but I'm sure there is fun stuff around here too!

@RachelH That sounds like fun! I don't really know my way around DC at all so I have no idea where to go out. I'll look into the Georgetown area though Smiley smile

I would LOVE to have a vacation home in OC in the future, and so would my FH. We'll see Smiley smile

I'm sure you'll find something fun, I don't know your area at all or I would make more suggestions.

I'm facing this exact dilemma right now. I was thinking of doing a booze cruise on the Potomac or inner harbor, but I think I should stay closer to where the bride lives, so that would be closer to Frederick, I guess.

If you do DC, you could do a class or event at 918 F St (the Living Social venue). They have classes and tastings and comedy nights and adult spelling bees... Worth a look, though truthfully, I've never done one.

H St Country Club is a restaurant with indoor mini golf. It's fun, though a little cramped. It's in NE and the parking situation stinks, however.

You could have a picnic in the arboretum or by the tidal basin, if your girls are into that kinda thing.

Dang, I thought I'd responded to this! We had one at Dave & Buster's, and one at Spa World in Centreville, VA.

What about in the Ocean Pines area? I can't think of any of the names off the top of my head but I know I have been to a lot of cool places around there. Also, I just went parasailing at this place on the bayside.... it was attached to a bar that was on the water which looked SO COOL. I took 54 in Fenwick to get to it, but then we ended up stopping at another location they had on the other side of the bay (closer to coastal highway) and they had a great outdoor bar and a bar with all windows the whole way around. I wish I could remember the name! I am pretty sure it is the bar associated with Shark's Cove Marina. There are a lot of bayside bars all the way down with awesome views and great outdoor bars you might look into. I remember there was on that had a panoramic view of the bay and they used to play music to the sun setting, then they would crank up the bar music and it turned more into a party scene, they had a cool stage there. Sorry I cant remember these places, I was under 21

Bee, I think the restaurant that played music to the sun setting is Fager's Island. FH and I went there when we got engaged/our second anniversary and I'm hoping to have the actual wedding there.

Harper's Ferry is a good idea, thanks! Any cool things in particular?

I wish I could make it at Dave and Buster's but I doubt my cousin would like that. I've always wanted to have a laser tag bachelorette party, but I won't have enough people to rent one out...

Try Illusions Magic Bar in Baltimore City. It's a classy bar in the Inner Harbor with shows and good food.

    Some other options:

Dave and Busters in Arundel Mills

Padonia Station (sports bar with live bands, billiards, etc)

Howl at the Moon in Baltimore

Magooby's Joke House in Timonium MD (comedy place)

    There are places all over

I was also thinking harpers ferry. There's lots of adventure type activities-- tubing, rafting, horseback riding. The town also has ghost tours if you're into that.

If you and your girls are into wine you could do a wine tour to the wineries in Leesburg area. Reston Limo has private tours that will take you to one or two wineries where you can do tastings and bring a food with you. My friends and I try to do one every once in a while where we all bring some sort of snack that goes with wine and if we find a wine we like we'll get a few bottles and just stay at the winery for a while. It's much more low key but they are usually over by 3 or 4pm so you all can go out somewhere afterward.
