OK so I am DIY'ing almost all of my wedding which I think you all know... I am ordering plain mason type drinking jars (with handles) online and my step mother (who is uber crafty) is going to either be painting or etching them to be given as favors (also to be utilized as main drinking glass for the evening) I have a few questions though that I need help/opinions on...

1) Should I do the traditional favor logo w/ our names and date and a graphic, our monogram, or something without our names so people use them more often (ideas too please!)

2) should I have these for just the adults (18 ), everyone 13 , or for everyone? If just adults or 13 what should I do for the younger attendees?

This is a very casual function so I really am not looking at going all out crazy on wedding favors..

I'm doing this as well. I have the same jars. I got chalkboard vinyl and a cute paper punch and will be applying them to the mason jars. That way everyone can write their own names on them, and then pick off the sticker and throw it away to use later. Mason jars aren't my only favor though.

We did the same jars for our groomsmen gifts I ordered on Etsy they came sandblasted in this case with names and date for $12 apiece they also came with lids and the girl tied a hemp bow around it.....I only ordered 12 but she was incredibly quick I had them within a weekthis would be a nice option if you did want to get lids and fill them with food

Also I second the straw and gift tag....and over all agree that most guests would probably not want the etched

No names (and by that I mean yours) or wedding date. Thats a dead guarantee that most guests will leave them, throw them away or never use them again.

I must be the odd-ball wedding guest because I like when things have the couple's name/date on them...it makes me think of them when I use said favor. Only favor I remember not taking was a wine glass with the couple's name because 1. I didn't see it on my way out to remember and 2. I have so many wine glasses from various wineries that I've had to throw some out and not take any more.

With that said (and me being in the minority for liking the couple's name on things) I'd go with a chalkboard sticker or painted on, especially if people are using these to drink out of all night and then put a tag with your names on it.

I would leave them plain, if you want to decorate or dress them up add a bow to the handle or do fun patterned straws.

    Have one for each guest.

I like Shannon's idea of putting a guest's name on it, use it as a place card, and the guest can use it all night (knowing s/he has the right glass and not someone else's), and then guest can take it home!

I would leave it if it had the couples name or date. Actually, I would probably leave it anyway as I don't like the feel of the lacing where a lid goes at the top, and I can't stand mix matched dishes in my cabinet. But if you want more people to take them ( an actually keep them), don't put your names or date. Put something universal.
