Better known as the lemonade cleanse, well ive been doing my research and beyonce herself has tryed it.Master Cleanse is created way back in the 1941 by an alternative medicine practitioner, Stanley Burroughs, as a detoxification and weight loss diet. Unlike other diets, Master Cleanse has stood the test of time for over 70 years as people embarking on the Master Cleanse has benefited in many different ways. ive been seen that people lost 12pounds in 10 days? have any of u ever tryed it?? how real is it

Those 12 pounds will come back after your first meal. This is a great way to drop 5-10 lbs to get into that sexy dress but it is not a long term weight lose option.

I’ve tried it on several occasion and did fabulous on it losing an average of 10 lbs (water weight) each time but after I had by first real meal it was all back. I say real meal because you are suppose to take it slow the first days after you’ve completed the cleanse; sticking to fruits and veggies only.

According to WebMD and a couple other sources, this can be dangerous to your health as you are not getting proper nutrition, vitamins and minerals. If you starve yourself you will more than likely only lose muscle, not fat. Your body needs protein and calcium...guess where those things reside? Your muscles and bones. If you are looking to "detox" your body....you have this thing called a "liver" that does that for you for free. =)

I will say one other thing. Stay home your first two mornings on the cleanse. After you drink your salt/water solution you will have to go to the bathroom a few times.

I agree with Jen H. this cleanse isn't really needed. Not sure why frutose would be a good detox. But I rely more on research done in academic peer reviewed journals not Beyonce...

If your doing the cleanse, it's not good to work out, because you are not eating any nutrients to substain a workout. I would only use it to get in a dress as MekMek stated. Not to actually jumpstart weight loss. It's only a quick fix, I'm sure that's why BEYONCE does it!

So just stick to working out and a healthy meal plan. Maybe some appetite suppresants as well.

Yeah I went to the fat doctor after my 1st son and got put on Phentermine and ate every 3 hours and the weight fell off me. I tried it again after my last son and it wasn't working so I quit it and now I am struggling with trying to do it natural...working out and eating right. According to Sparkpeople where I am keeping a log of what I eat and workouts it says I will be at my wanted weight by Oct. 15th Smiley smile

For anyone interested in the master cleanse I just want to give you a little heads up warning...

My co-worker did the cleanse and swore by it. She lost a lot of weight because of it (of course you'll loose weight, you're starving your body) Halfway through the week she was complaining about "tummy problems" and within two minutes of complaining she got up and sprinted out of the room. About 15 minutes later she came back. The office was small and there was one ladies restroom for the building. I went in to wash my hands and the stall door was open, glanced in and I saw something that I was not prepared to see. I never knew anyone could poo that much. It was in the toilet, on the toilet, around, and UP THE WALL. So much it literally looked staged. The company had to hire a hazmat crew to come in and clean up the restroom. The master cleanse does just that - it cleanses your insides. Prepare for lots of #2 and the best way to do it is to stay home incase of accidents

I wouldn't do it to jump start your diet but more as a way to cleanse your colon and I wouldn't do it for more than 3 days. The ladies here are correct this is considered starving your body and will have the energy to workout. You will spend the majority of your time in the bathroom. If you are looking to cleanse your body and drop a few pounds I would have a colonic done.

But to answer your question salt/water solution is basically your breakfast. Each more you have to drink a glass of warm salt water. Yum

Oh and Kimi's story is so true hence why I said you will spend a lot of time in your bathroom.

I also wouldn't do any type of master cleanse. I set up a My Fitness Pal account in October 2011 and started tracking my daily calories and exercise. I work out at least 3 times per week. By doing this I've lost 28 pounds the healthy way and I've been able to keep it off. Everyone keeps asking me what pills or diet I did to lose the weight and there really wasn't any. Just simple calorie counting & working out. You can do it girl! Smiley smile

I do the master cleanse twice a year, yes, as said above it is not a good long term weight loss method, not at all, that would be dangerous. With that said, why do I continue to go back to it? Because I have very good results on it, it jumpstarts my healthy eating when I "fall off the wagon", (and Im probably one of the most nutrition crazed people you'll meet). Sometimes I just need to hit the "restart" button and this works for me. My first experience with it, I went in with an open mind, thinking I'd go off of it whenever I felt I needed to (hungry or feeling sick),sure I had a hard time intially, but I quickly realized that I wasnt hungry on it, I just missed the routine/ritual of eating. (It's not easy the first 3 days). At the time I worked in an ER and actually had the support of many, if not most, of my co-workers and the docs were interested too. Several of my co-workers went on it as well, with positive results and no ill-effects (although they are medical professionals,

Who knew what to be cautious about, any extreme reactions) A few things surpised me pleasantly, I had a melanoma scar that was very ugly across my chest, and within 3 days of the fast it was almost invisible (I'd had the scar for almost a yr, red, raised, ugly). I always sleep through the night from the first night of the fast (something I dont usually do), my mental clarity is amazing and I have more energy than I normally do. Alot of that is likely attritbuted to only taking in organic,non-processed nutrients, but I do keep going back to it. (I have modified the salt water solution, it is too rough for me). I think if you go into with caution it can work to be your 'restart", but I will warn you that you will meet resistance when you mention it, do it for you, and only as long as you feel good about it, you know your body better than anyone , if you feel it's not for you, then its not.
