Matron/maid of Honor Stepped down

Aryel, on June 28, 2021 at 1:37 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
We are about 130 days out from my wedding and my maid/matron of honor stepped down because her due date changed for her first child and it’s about 7 days before my wedding. I am over the moon excited for her, and totally understand that she may not come at all to the wedding, but what do I do for a new MOH? The dresses have been ordered for the other bridesmaids, so I feel like if I added a BM it would be like be in the wedding, order the dress right now. I really don’t want to forego a MOH but don’t really know how to handle the change.

I would really leave things as is. Your bridal party is supposed to be the people closest to you, with the MOH being the closest out of all of them. "Promoting" someone just so you can say you have a MOH cheapens the role a bit.

Agree with the previous comments- just leave your WP as it stands. There is no need to add BMs or “promote” anyone to the MOH role.

I agree - leave everything as is. Your MOH can still have the title even without her doing any of the responsibilities. You don't want to "replace" your MOH just to say you had one.

Leave as is, your MOH a isn’t going to do anything special that your bridesmaids can’t handle
