May 2021 Brides

Maria, on February 18, 2021 at 1:50 PM Posted in Rhode Island Planning 1 7

Hey All, looking to talk to my May brides and see how you all are doing with planning. With the 50 people restriction and no dance floor still in effect until March 6th I am freaking out. I am supposed to have well over 100 people and it looks like we could be postponing AGAIN. Who else is stressed about this I am freaking out. We're getting married at the Newport Beach House and they couldn't be clear with me either on whats going to be possible. I just cannot wrap my head around having a wedding at that venue with only 50 people and paying what we've already paid for the space and then some. HELPPPP need some support even from those of you who've already got married.

I'm pretty confident the numbers will be upped. CT just raised theirs this week and NY and NJ raised theirs a few weeks ago. RI can't be far behind! I'm sure the delay in the announcement is due to the transition between governors. Once Gina is out I think we'll hear some good news (nothing against her, just the timing doesn't help us!)

In other fun news I'm in the process of trying to find a new venue in the Newport area! 3 months out!! It's just so great.

    Hi Maria,
I was supposed to be getting married at Rosecliff 5/21/21 and my fiancé and I have made the decision to postpone to May 2022. Rhode Island doesn’t seem to be taking signs from states around them and we too did not get any clear answers. The slides from the RI wedding coalition @ https://www.ricwep.org/ (of what they hope the governor will agree with) sealed the deal for us. Not until the positivity rate is essentially zero will things be back to normal in RI. The no walk-up bar service, masked cocktail hour among others just feels so insane to me! So sorry you’re dealing with this too.Hope this was helpful!

Girl good luck!!! This is so completely wild I am really hoping this new governor is moving in the same direction as other states. Such a shame.

Yea thank you so much totally helpful for mentally preparing to postpone again. I was supposed to have our wedding on May 2nd 2020 and of course that was a no go for sure. I am hoping for the best and hopefully good news from the new governor. I wish we could all rally somewhere to help our venues speak out for all of us. We are literally with family not strangers! I can't seem to wrap my head around the fact that religious groups and assemblies can gather up to 125 people indoors!! smh Sorry for the rant thank you so much again!

    Hi Maria,
We’re getting married May 28,2021, we were suppose to get married October 2,2020. We’re not going to postpone again, I don’t think I could handle the stress again. I think RI will be fine by then, they’re easing more restrictions everyday, CT upped their numbers and NY as well. I think this whole experience has taught me to roll with the punches, and I can’t wait to marry the man of my dreams whether that is 10, 50 or 100 people. The “perfect” day doesn’t really exist the people you’re surrounded by makes the day. I don’t that’s my take on it, everyone’s experience is different. We personally won’t postpone. I know our vendors, especially the Crowne Plaza where we’re getting married has been doing mock weddings with the DOH to make weddings happen in RI so that makes me hopeful.

Girl!!! My anxiety is through the roof 2 months away and I’m literally checking DAILY on any updates. I have read a couple articles that they will be changing to 100 indoor and 150 outdoor by April so I think you should be okay. I’ll have to hold my breath a bit hahahahaha.
