Hello! How are you all feeling about planning now with Covid? Are there any concerns? Do you feel that things will be better in 8 months?

Our venue doesn’t really do weddings. It’s a private club in NYC — so they’re accommodating to our timeline, too. Definitely wouldn’t be able to taste ramps in November, like we would in April. That’s why I find it so odd, lol.

I guess my original post didn’t go through (I did two responses and I think only the second one posted). My venue has their main entrees finalized for their 2021 wedding menu, but the side dishes and appetizers are all seasonal, so those are chosen closer to the actual wedding.
I will say that ramps are delicious though!
We were basically tasting the main dishes and because of covid restaurant restrictions and a long distance relationship (currently cross country in Rhode Island and Washington state), we also had not been able to both meet with the venue coordinator in person (instead of FaceTime) prior to the tasting; so it was killing a few birds with one stone by doing a menu tasting and going over some details and planning with the coordinator as well!

I'm starting to get very concerned. After having canceled September 2020 I rescheduled for May 2021, and recently asked my venue to pencil me in for September 2021 because I'm not feeling that confident yet. As much as I try it's just depressing and hard to deal with. I know everyone is going through the same thing it just sucks.

Hugs, Linda. I totally understand where you’re coming from. We’re staying hopeful for our May 2021 wedding, especially with this week’s positive news about a vaccine, but we recognize it’s not a guarantee, not by a long shot. Hang in there!

Honestly, not everyone is feeling so gloomy. I think we’re missing the big picture and the woe is me attitude isn’t getting anyone anywhere.

I feel ya. I feel so stuck! Sometimes I think I'm good and that the vaccine may be available enough that my 100 person wedding will be possible, and other times I'm so depressed and think I'll only be able to have like 5 people there and that all the money I spent was for nothing LOL.

I'm trying to tell myself to just wait until January before I start freaking out Smiley smile (It's not working haha)

I hear you, it seems like around February 2020 when everyone was trying to convince me we'll be fine by September, it's so stressful, which is why my venue penciled in addition to May 2021, September 2021! They're so good about everything!! Good Luck to you!!

I am planning my own wedding for May 1st. I actually started planning after Covid hit as we got in engaged over the Summer. We were being optimistic then that things would be better hahaha. So far, we’re still moving forward with everything as planned. We’re having a relatively small wedding of about 70 people anyways so I’m hoping these smaller weddings are still allowed. Im in South Florida so Im hoping we’ll be one of the first to get vaccines but who knows. Im more concerned about the honeymoon since a lot of countries are either not allowing US residents to come in or are requiring several covid tests + 14 days of quarantine. AND we have flights credits (we couldn’t get refunds) from a trip to Spain we had planned for May,2020 and had to cancel due to Covid. Trying to just take it one day at a time!

I am still planning everything as planned! I'm waiting to print invitations till the beginning of year if we need to downsize. Our reception is at a family cabin so no worries with that. Only thing would be small amount of people for ceramony at church.

I feel ready to roll with the punches and accept a reduced guest list. In fact I am happy with our new number and hope to be able to spend tike with everyone, with precautions

Its been hard enough planning for another city, covid has stressed me out for guest count. We sent save the dates to 80 people and hope 50 show. How do we best determine our rental quantities?

Hope May is better than now!

We are trying to postpone but our venue just created a new policy that says 2021 weddings cannot be postponed BECAUSE OF COVID 😓
