May Brides-- Postponing to later this year or 2021?

Shannon, on April 7, 2020 at 12:54 PM Posted in Married Life 0 5

Hey y'all,

Our wedding was supposed to take place May 24th, but we are starting the process of postponing, but when should we postpone to? This July seems to be the best option for everyone's schedules, but is that too early? I can't even imagine having to go through this process again in two months. But everyone keeps saying that this coronavirus is coming back in the fall, so that seems like a dangerous choice as well. We've been engaged for three years, so I'd rather not postpone until 2021. What is everyone else doing?

We are also planning to just have a small ceremony on our date because I already ordered wedding favors with the 5/24 date listed on them, so I want it to have some significance. Really hoping the county clerk's office is open by then so we can get our license!!

We postponed our 05/02/20 wedding to 08/29/20. Was lots of work to find another date as this was what was available to us. Praying everything is ok before then. I too heard about the virus returning in fall. All any of us can do know is wait this out and keep the faith that things will work out in our favor 🙏🏼

I emailed my wedding venue to see about postponing till 2021. My date is set for Oct 25, 2020, and the vaccine doesn't come out till early 2021 or end of 2020. So I don't want to have to worry about the virus, while I am getting things together for my wedding.

Our wedding was suppose to be March 21st, but we postponed it to August 1st. Hopefully by then everything will be back to normal. I think July & August are good months.

    Hi, and welcome!

I'm so sorry you have to postpone.

We have a discussion with links to support and advice just for this situation.

It's hard to tell you when to reschedule, it will likely depend on where you live and where your wedding is (Florida might not be good for a while, but California might get out of this soon...).

    Good luck!

    Hi Shannon,

I'm truly sorry that you're going through this stress. Postponing your wedding is not an easy decision, and it's tougher when it's not your call. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone REALLY knows how or when the Coronavirus pandemic will end.

Here's a discussion with other May brides: May 2020 wedding + covid .

As you may have seen already, WeddingWire has created some resources specifically for brides like you who are navigating this situation: Our COVID-19 Weddings Advice Guide with articles like this one: What to Do About Your Wedding During the Coronavirus Pandemic.

I hope you can make a decision that feels right for you. Smiley heart Good luck!
