My wedding is in 3 weeks. I had almost 5 mths to plan but when I first asking around about makeup artist, most was not available during the holiday weekend, July 6th. There is a 17 year old that I know who does make up for all of the girls for proms & dances & she does a fabulous job. That is literally all she does is buy make up & watch Youtube videos. I went for a trial with her & she seemed to have caked on the foundation. I think it had to do more with the powder. I am 44 & my skin is older than the young ladies she does make up on. I am afraid I will have to end up doing my own make up & I want my pictures to be great...and my hair which I am doing on my own. Short hair. Anyway, I definitely have to get my eyebrows waxed some because they have gotten out of control and I will tweeze where needed. If I don't do that now, my make up will not adhere to my face. Anyone doing there on make up? What products do you use? Especially foundation that has good coverage but is light & won't emphasize wrinkles. Lol. I am at work and we are slow & I played with makeup...I have never been good with it. I was a tomboy growing up & just never work much. Thanks for any feedback.

I do want to add that your eyes in the pics you posted look great.

If you're unable or unwilling to buy products from Sephora or someplace like that, I would suggest the following drugstore products. Pretty much all of these products cost under $10.

You should use a makeup primer. This will help smooth out your skin and keep the foundation from showing fine lines and wrinkles as much. Personally, I like Hard Candy's Hydra-Prime Makeup Primer and Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser.

Milani's Concel + Perfect Foundation or Maybelline's Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation. Both are light to medium coverage and works better than most expensive foundations that I've tried. Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder is a great setting powder to use on top.

Waterproof eyeliner and mascara are a must. Personally, I used L'Oreal Infallible Never Fail Eyeliner and CoverGirl Peacock Flare Mascara. The mascara especially stays on, even after crying or swimming.

For a wedding, I would probably use a setting spray as well. I don't have any drugstore suggestions for this because I rarely use it, but Smashbox has a really nice setting spray.

I agree that your make up looks great in these pics. I’m not seeing the wrinkles you’re talking about, but can relate to how you feel. I’m not at all used to wearing foundation of any sort so when it was put on my face I had the same “woweee cool wrinkle highlighter!!” reaction ...but it’s worth acknowledging that after getting my make up done I was scrutinizing my face up real close in a way that I also don’t usually do. After my trial I felt wrinkly but I don’t think I look wrinkly AT ALL in my wedding photos, so, that’s important to consider. If you to go for another trial, try to take different pictures— not the super upclose ‘I can see all my pores’ pics we tend to take after trials, because that’s not how anyone sees you and it’s not how photos of you will be taken day of. Maybe ask another person to take a picture of you— then you’ll really get to see what you look like from the angle/perspective of someone else, and you’ll be able to better envision your whole look. That said, the look in these pictures is really beautiful. I don’t think I see what you see when you’re looking at them. I see a stunning bride to be!

Thank you, Melissa. That is sweet of you! And it comforts me that you shared your experience with me. I think we are always our worst critic but a make up artist I am not. Bless it!

I bet you would do an awesome job on yours for your wedding as well. If you have the option I bet you would rather be pampered that day though. I wish I could sit back & let someone else do it all for me. Lol

I’m doing my own and so our my girls. I wanted to be able to have a HMUA for us all however it unfortunately doesn’t fit into our budget since we’re paying for everything ourselves. So we’re getting our hair professionally done (since that’s what I suck most at ) and doing all our own makeup.
I love Clinique foundation and concealer all in one liquid makeup as well as tartes foundation and separate concealer and MK has a great line too.
Also there’s a comparable drug store brand of this called Milani (comparable to Clinique) and I’m in LOVE with not just this foundation/concealer but also their other products like lipsticks.

MK (Mary Kay). I also agree with the other ladies I think you look gorgeous! ✨✨💕 however I understand where you’re coming from when you want to be comfortable in what you’re wearing since it’s your wedding day. (Ex=wanting lighter makeup which is what I’d love to have as well) hope this helps and happy planning!💕

I think your makeup looks great in these pics! The focus is definitely on your eyes because you have such great lashes!

Thank you! I am going to try to perfect the eye shadow. And thank you about the compliment, now everyone has lashes. All I had up on anyone were those lashes. Lol

But mineral oil at a drug store, not at a makeup place. The higher grade has been purified more, can even be taken internally. Super non irritating moisturizer. Put on a clean face, neck, and hands, after a shower or wash, with excess wiped off, at least morning and night, and your skin will be soft as a baby's bottom. It is a more purified version of what is in baby oil. Makeup put on a face that has been regularly moisturized this way will hold makeup better without a cakey look, and minimize wrinkles. Or, more expensive, traditional Ponds cleaning cold cream. Green cap. All the other creams have added stuff . But the original cleansing cold cream is what stage actresses use to remove makeup, frequently in a day or evening, with few irritants likely to lead to clogged pores. Very good for tender places like on and around eyelids, right in front of ears, and lips and surrounding area. Also, as I get older ( 37 now, live in harsh climate) I use stains like Clinique blushing gel to color lips and for blush on cheeks. Natural freckles that make you, you, come through, but you can use a very sheer foundation, and little it no powdery stuff, which tends to accumulate in wrinkles. One thing nice about doing my own makeup: hours after putting it on, I took a 10 minute break and washed all but eyeliner off, quickly re-did it fresh, after cleaning with cleansing cold cream, then back to the party. Knowing you can quickly redo it yourself any time means you can have a light natural look, not a sprayed over and sealed masque, as by a pro to make it last 15 hours.Be the best version of you, rather than a masque of someone else.

I love the IT cosmetics cc cream foundation and also this one I found through a Facebook ad called pheoria (I think). I have tried a bunch - fenty, hourglass, etc and those are the only ones that don’t emphasize my flaws or melt off my face

Lol! Thank you, Jill! I am so self conscious of my skin. I have never been one who stayed in the sun but I have used the tanning bed just for the wedding. I am scared I would have a spray tan disaster if I got one for the wedding and couldn't wash it off. LOL. I have never smoked & tried to take care of my skin & have been too busy to search for a good foundation. I appreciate your suggestions!

    Thank you 🤗
I actually prefer pampering myself lol, when it comes to hair, makeup etc. I don’t even really like going to a hairdresser, so I bug my FH to cut my hair 😂

I am not really into tanning either and everyone has been suggesting I get a spray tan. I have the same fear as you- come out looking orange or have spots! lol
