May Wedding in New England?! Kind of Freaking Out

FutureMrs.C, on March 1, 2019 at 3:42 PM Posted in Connecticut Planning 0 14

Hi! So, I've always loved the idea of getting married in the Spring, so I picked May 16th, 2020 as our wedding day. However, as the weather keeps being weird here in Connecticut, I'm starting to feel like I shot myself in the foot a little bit by picking a date that is too early to have a nice outdoor affair.

Connecticut brides - any thoughts? Anyone in this position feeling confident about it? lol

I would worry too much about it, FutureMrs.C. Who knows what the weather is going to be like tomorrow, let alone May of next year! I would just make sure to have a contingency plan in case the weather does go for wonky on your wedding day and you can still have all the fun, just inside. Smiley smile

I think you'll be fine!! I feel like by mid May it is usually pretty nice here, I remember last May it was in the 90's already some days. I actually love May in CT. I remember in high school our proms were always in May and it was never cold.

The weather is being fairly normal this year in that it is completely inconsistent and crazy. I wouldn't worry about. You certainly can't control the weather and May is a long way off.

I'm also getting married in May. I'm not worried about the weather. I'm having an outdoor ceremony but reception will be indoors. I chose May because it won't be super hot and humid. Your guests will be more comfortable in May than in July or August when it gets super muggy and gross.

That's true....And that's why we chose may to begin with! I think I'm just over thinking it. Yay May weddings!

NE is unpredictable in general. I’m doing the week before you (would’ve been date twins but a friends wedding I’ll be attending is the 15th), and not too nervous about the weather. It’ll be nice for our guests, not sweltering hot.

Girrrrrl I’m May 10 in CT so I feel you, but I realized that no matter if it’s scorching, or a tornado, it’s still my wedding day, and it will be magical ☺️

I’m getting married outdoors in July. Although I don’t expect rain, I’m looking at venues that have a backup plan. It’s so important! Find a venue that has an indoor backup plan!
