May/june 2021 brides

Katie, on December 3, 2020 at 12:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
I am thinking about booking an outdoor venue in Michigan for end of may 2021 for about 100 guests and I am worried about what the covid situation will be at that time. Anyone else worried about their May or June 2021 wedding?

I feel like by May 2021, an event with 100guests outside will be allowed. Inside, I'm not sure about but I think that outside will definitely be doable. Especially if this vaccine turns out to be as positive as they are expecting.

Worried is probably a strong word, because I know we most likely won't be able to have a "normal" wedding. We have a Plan B and Plan C in place, so I would recommend if you have your heart set on May/June, that you have contingency plans in place and start working now on how you would dramatically reduce your guest list if needed.

Experts have already stated large gatherings won’t be happening until at least fall 2021; I doubt MI will allow 100 guests outdoors that early. MI influenza peak doesn’t end until April... I would have a Plan B for sure! I have a friend with a wedding scheduled in MI for May and she is getting ready to postpone.

I have 150 for mine in April and my in-laws have (I believe) over that number for theirs in Feb - but we are in a state that doesn't have many restrictions. In MI, I'm not sure. It does help that it's outdoors though. I would hang on for now, but have a plan B.

No, I am not. Doing it outdoors and only having three guests.

Yes, I'm worried. We had to postpone our original date, May 30, 2020, and we thought going a whole year out would be far enough for all of this to be over (or at least so under control that we could have the wedding we wanted). But I'm in California, and things are getting worse here everyday. Our governor just announced new restrictions, including some stay-at-home orders. So, now May 2021 isn't looking much better than this year. I'm so stressed out about what to do. I don't want to cancel or postpone again, but there is so much uncertainty around our current date. I don't want to be in the same position next year as I was last year. We were only 60 days out when our venue called and said they were shutting down all events. So, now that I know it could happen again, I'm looking into other options now. I feel like I don't yet have to make a decision about our venue, but I want to have a Plan B, just in case. But I don't want to wait until March to start making that Plan B. So, I'm currently researching a much smaller, more intimate wedding, with just immediate family, in a location that won't be as restricted. We only have about 75 guests currently, but we're considering cutting it down to immediate family only, which would bring the number down to about 20, including us. So, that's where we are.

Personally, I think end of May will be just fine with regard to Covid. The warmer weather will cause the infection rate to drop, and since you're wedding will be outside, I can't imagine it will be an issue then.
