I had some time after my dentist appt the other day and snuck into a bridal shop to try on dresses for the first time ever. I’m going dress shopping this weekend with the girls, but needed an idea of what to expect beforehand. I’m on the shorter side in height and when I showed my FH this picture of me vs the model, he laughed!! Granted, I was not wearing any shoes and was not standing on any platform. But still, how rude! Smiley xd

Shorter brides (around 5’-3”), what dress style did you choose? Please show me your dress!

5'3 over here. I got a ball gown. I tried on an A-line as well. These were my top 2 dresses.

This is besuriful! Love your dress. I am also 5 foot (and 1/8) and found a lot of dresses made me shorter. I ended up with a drop waist and I think it gave me a waist... since I don’t have one. The little height I have is in my legs.

You should look for dresses that can be taken up in the waist or shoulders. I have the same petite problem.

You look amazing in that gown. I'm 5'3 and chose an A-line dress (because of my body type) but because FH is 6'5, I'm wearing 4.5 inch heels. The model pictures are touched up and photo shop is used. So my suggestion is to not show him any more pictures until you find the dress that you love (and maybe not even then). It's up to you what you wear and when you find the gown, you will know.

On a side note, I love your tattoos.

Thanks! I told FH today that he’s not seeing any dresses I try on this weekend, and definitely not the one I will eventually pick. He’s going to LOVE the dress and he’s going to tell me that too! Lol!

I'm pretty short as well. The first one I tried on looked ridiculous on me and made me look even shorter! I wanted a tea length and I think the one I got I will get hemmed a bit because it looks a little long on my short body.

    The one I tried on

    Set-8CWG743-10544664-Ivory

    The one I bought

5'2" on a good day Smiley smile I went with a trumpet silhouette, I felt like lots of fabric of a ballgown and even and A-line made me look even shorter than I am! But I'm also wearing short heels so maybe those silhouettes would work with taller shoes! Good luck!

I'm 5'2 and I got a mermaid style because it actually made me feel tall, I felt lost in a ball gown style or even an A-line, so after the first few dresses I knew I would need either a sheath or mermaid

I love the second one, you look absolutely stunning in both but the floral detailing with the gauzy skirt gets me every time!

    You're so beautiful!
I'm 5'4" and I was a bit worried too. My gown is a sheath dress and hugs my body perfectly and has a small train. I'm also thinking of getting a lace overdress for photos!

I'm 5'1 and bought an A-line dress. The ball gown was too overwhelming for my body type

I'm 5'2" and got an A-line dress. I wonder how I'll feel about it when I'm not standing on a 6" platform anymore. But, I loved the way I felt in it, and that's ultimately why I bought it. And, I'm wearing 3 1/4" heels.

    Good luck with your search!
