Meal Choice on Place Card

Shanna, on December 25, 2014 at 11:35 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

For those who did Rsvp's with meal choices, how did you indicate those choices on the place cards? I'm having a beach themed wedding so I was thinking maybe a different beach themed item for the different choices?

Yes that's how I put my rsvp card, I'm looking for ideas for the place cards.

Our family almost always does plated meals. Here's different ways I've seen entrée choice "coded" on place cards:

    - different colored jewel stickers in the upper corners

    - different color backing/tent cards (names written on white or ivory card stock and affixed to front)

    - Small holes punched with craft hole punch along bottom edge of card: beef in lower left, chicken in lower right, veggie in the center

    - different motifs that fit with the theme (for example: beach theme with starfish for beef and coral for chicken)

    - entrée choice actually printed in small font in lower right corner (handy if you have guests that tend to forget what they actually selected)

I used different colors and just put a little dot on the corner (silver for fish, blue for beef, green for vegetarian). Was going to use jewels, but it would have been a pain to get just the colors I wanted and enough of them.

Songbird has a lot of great suggestions! Not exactly beach themed but we super-glued little bows in our wedding colors at the top of each place card. Black was beef, white was pork and purple was vegetarian.

Not the greatest picture but here's an example:

My venue wants it to be a number on the back. So 1=chicken, 2=fish, 3=veggie, 4=kids. It won't be as pretty but I hope people are looking at the front of the place cards not the back lol Smiley smile

I'm just putting whatever the selection is in the top right corner on the place cards.

Keep in mind that you do need two place cards per person if you do this; not everyone will take their escort card and display it neatly in front of them. (Or many you could make a little sign for the escort card table that says, 'please bring your place card to your table with you?)

Many of the venues here take orders at the table when people sit down, which I like MUCH better.

I've seen this done with all the above suggestions and also simply a small "B" for beef, "C" for chicken, "F" for fish, "V" for vegetarian, etc. written into the lower back corner of the place card.
