Medical school,military and wedding

Hannah, on April 13, 2021 at 11:41 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
Me and my fiancé just recently got engaged and he is leaving for Army basic training this month. He will be doing his training for about a year. I am planning on medical school, taking my MCAT exam June of this year and planning to apply this application cycle. We would love to get married may 2022 or September 2022 but I’m not sure if starting medical school in august and then getting married a month after would be ideal. Just looking for some advice! Thanks in advance.

I’m currently in school while wedding planning (and working) and it’s definitely a lot. Once it comes to the last month and you are trying to iron out all the little details and things you really couldn’t do before that point.

I planned a wedding while in grad school and worked 2 jobs. It’s doable but it was a lot! Good thing is the wedding would be only a month after so it’s not far into med school.
I would try and see if early august is doable or even July that way all the planning is done and your only worry would be school.
Congrats and best of luck with everything

Congratulations 🥳 Only you and FH know what you can handle. But I do thinks it's doable. FH will enter the fdny fire academy May 10 and we're getting married May 28 😅 So not only will he be bald but also who knows what time he'll get there lol. Weigh out the pros and cons and if it looks like you can do it I say go for it!!

I’d say do it. You can always postpone if it gets to be too much. But if you find a good venue and good vendors, they will take a lot of the guesswork and stress out of your day.

Hey! Sort of in the same boat! I am planning on starting law school (hopefully) in fall of 2022 and getting married in spring of 2023. While I know I could do that and plan a wedding and work full time, I have three autoimmune diseases and that sounds like a disaster 😂. So FH and I decided to wait a year and apply to law school for fall of 2023 after the wedding is over. It all depends on how focused you can be and how good you are with organizing. We want to honeymoon right away. Would you be able to do that while in medical school? Is that important to you? Would you have to scale back your wedding if you were too busy with classes? These are things we were thinking about for law school that ultimately helped make our decision. I want to focus 100% on my wedding and also 100% on my studies and the best way to do both, for me, is to separate them
