My mother died unexpectedly and traumatically last year. I want to do something at the wedding to honor of her and in remembrance of her. However, I need to be very cautious about how to go about this. My father has struggled and continues to struggle greatly with her death. I am looking for ideas which are appropriate, but not overwhelming for my dad or myself. For example, I feel like the "empty seat" would be too much for either of us emotionally. Has anyone had experience with this situation, or have ideas. I am very appreciative. All the Best.

I am sorry to hear of our losses. The elegance of a candle burning in the honor of those not in attendance is a very nice idea.

I am sorry for your Fh's loss. I have been on the fence about using wedding programs, but you are completely correct, that would be such an appropriate way to honer her to each quest, without shifting the tone of the ceremony . That actually might be my deciding reason in ordering them. Thank you.

I absolutely LOVE this. I have seen etched vases like that online, I like the idea of a floating candle.I am so very sorry for your FH's loss. But your memorial is beautiful. Thank you for sharing the picture.

Thank you for your condolences. Adding her favorite flower into my hair or bouquet is a wonderful idea. I initially had wanted to do something visual- like a missing chair. But the reality is that I am very much still struggling with her loss, and I am trying balance honoring her, without flooding myself . And exactly as you stated, I am afraid that a table of pictures would be too reminiscent of her celebration of life, which is not the part of her life I want to focus on. Thank you for your suggestions and support.

I am sorry for your loss as well. It is very difficult to think of these things when you are still grieving so acutely. I think your memorial is a beautiful gesture. All the best to you and your family.
