Memory of Wedding

Nicole, on July 1, 2024 at 10:12 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 3

I do not want to make a big deal of it but I am still kind of annoyed that my father in law and two other adults on the groom side was talking continously during my father's speech at the wedding. I do not even remember what my father said. We got married on May 19th of this year and it's the one memory that sticks out in my mind. I am not sure if I should even bring it up to my husband because I feel like it would fall on deaf's ear's or if I should just let it go

Does your father recall what he said or what he planned to say? There is not much you can do about the situation now. I'm not sure how anyone can help or fix this after the fact. Maybe the drinking made them less courteous. Maybe in a similar situation you could get others to behave better with the help of your husband. So, possibly share with your husband that it upset you, and that you are sad you missed the speech. Hopefully that would help a little.

What do you want to happen if you tell your husband you’re upset about it? You can’t redo it, and you’re probably going to make your husband defensive if you just start complaining about his family’s behavior weeks afterward. Let it go and focus on remembering the parts of the day you loved instead of dwelling on the one that you didn’t.

I’d ask your dad for a copy of his speech if he has one. I’m not sure what it would accomplish to say anything about it now, though I probably would have mentioned it to your husband in real time so he could shush them if he was sitting nearby probably mentioned it afterwards if it was that glaring.
