Men's Warehouse vs. Jos A. Banks? Or other suggestions?

Joanna G, on June 3, 2013 at 9:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

We need to rent tuxes for the wedding and can't decide between these two or local wedding shops. Where can we get really nice tuxes for a good price? I don't want them to look cheap but I don't want our guys to have too much.

Any experience with either? What were the prices like?

We chose Men's Warehouse - Their tuxes are very nice, come with all of the guys' accessories and are very affordable.

I believe our guys are paying around $120.00 each?? We went with them because we also chose to go with David's Bridal for all of our bridal ladies and the two are linked in sales; so if you use both Men's Warehouse and David's Bridal, you'll get discounts for your entire wedding party - including a discount on your gown (if it's David's Bridal) and his tux will be free if your party is big enough.

Our experiences with both Men's Warehouse and David's Bridal have been fantastic!!

    Hope that helps! Smiley winking

Where are you located? We chose to go with Al's Formalwear. They seem to be a southwest and Texas only company. We picked them because they were slightly cheaper than Men's and they had more styles of tuxes to choose from. We also order our invitations (Carlson Craft) through them and got a $100 discount on the invites because we rented tuxes and ordered invitations through them.

We are going with President's Tuxedo (I don't know if that's a national chain or what). I went to a bridal show where they had a deal wheel (you spin and can get so much off tuxes). Well, the guy at the booth was nice and "cheated" for me since we nearly missed the $100! So we got $100 off everyone's tux. They also had a promo period to get your bridal show deal doubled if you came in and put $25 down. So we got $40 off everyone's tux, plus an additional $200 off to share with the whole party. We only needed 3 tuxes, so it was a super deal. Everyone is paying $108, so it was basically half off.

If I hadn't gotten the deal from President's Tuxedo, I probably would have gone to Men's Warehouse. My dress came from David's Bridal, so they do colour matching and as Katie said, you get other deals and such as well. I also considered just having them each buy a suit. It would potentially cost the same (maybe a little more) and it would be something they could definitely wear again.

We've not gone yet to organize FH's tux but I think we're going to go with Men's Warehouse even though I got my dress at Alfred Angelo (associated with Jos A Banks). We were interested in a chocolate tux we saw in a Men's Warehouse brochure and after looking on the Jos A Banks' website, we didn't see anything similar there.

Also we're having a DW in Vegas so we thought it'd be easier to get measured here and then pick up a tux in Vegas if using a big chain.

We live in md so the big chains here are men's warehouse and jos a banks, that I know of. I got my dress from davids but bm's from Alfred Angelo. We could do the color matching but girls dresses are grapes (looks like plum) and I'm not sure if I want to match their vests with girls dresses. Anyone know how much jos a banks tuxes are?

We also used President Tuxedo. We got $200 off at a bridal fair and FHs tux is free. Plus he gets a suit for free after the wedding. Smiley smile

We rented our tuxes from Jos A Banks. They have been really easy to work with so far. FH got his tux rental for free, and the groomsmen all got $25 off of their rentals. I believe the total came out to about $150 per rental.

They also allow you to pick up your rental 2-3 days before the event and keep it 2 days after, which is awesome and one less thing to worry about during crunch time. I believe MW only lets you come get them the day before the wedding and they're due back the day after. Not a big deal if you're right down the street from a MW, but we live an hour away from the nearest one. Yeahhhh, not happening.

We went with Mens Warehouse to buy suits- DON'T DO IT! It's been a struggle the whole time! Each time a guy would go in to get measured they couldn't find our names in the system so they all had to call and ask what to get (although Mens Warehouse said they set up an account with each guys info and the suit info and each time no one in the store could find it). We had 2 guys go in yesterday to pick up their suits and they were no where to be found. They said the will "probably" be ready next Friday- THE DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING. Terrible experience!

We went to the Tuxedo House in Timonium. They had the best prices, great selection, and really knew their stuff. Their customer service was excellent as well.
