Men's Wedding Hair Stylist

K&M, on February 24, 2018 at 12:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right forum, but I'm wondering if it's common to have the groom's hair styled on the wedding day as well? So far all the wedding hair stylists I've seen have been for the bride and bridal party. But FH's hair is thinning and he would like to try to get some body in it and have it styled for the wedding day. Forgive my ignorance but how common is this? Should he go to a salon or hire a wedding vendor to do this?

Thanks!

I don't see why not! I don't think it's necessary to going to specifically a wedding stylist though. Does he have a regular hair dresser who could do it?

He should talk with his regular barber or stylist about this. It is not unusual for the groom and groomsmen to go for a shave and a haircut. They might not want to get a haircut too close to the wedding if they are sporting a tan. That white line between the tan and the hair isn't the best for photos.

No tan. He has someone who cuts his hair, but he's never had it stylized or volumized. He usually wears a hat, but isn't really sure about doing that for our wedding. (He's not bald yet, just thinning.)

Has he tried Rogaine or keranique or anything like that? It seems like he's still got a little time to use a product like that to help regrow some hair. He should also ask his regular barber if he can do a 'volume and style' type of thing that you're asking for, and do a trial run just like you'll probably do for your wedding hair. I don't think it's necessary to pay yet another hair stylist to come to your venue the day of, I think a quick boys trip to the barber in the morning is more than adequate

If he wants it, why not? But I'm not sure they'll be able to do much, day of, for thinning hair. And there's not really so much "styling" to be done on guys. That's probably something he should start working on now. Not sure if those "regrowth" formulas are effective but it wouldn't hurt to look into one. Does he have dark hair? It seems like there might be something he could spray on, so that the scalp isn't so visible through the thin parts.

But if he wants to go for a trim and a hot shave, it's probably a fraction of what we spend on mani/pedis, hair, makeup, and accessories.

He has been using Rogaine for over a year. It doesn't seem to be very effective. It may be slowing the hair loss, but none of the hair has grown back. He does have dark hair, but it's mostly that he wants his hair to look a little "bigger" so it's not so flat against his head. He has medium length hair, so I'm not sure what you mean when you say there's not much styling to do. I'm guessing you mean for short hair?

Have him try Biotin. You get it in the vitamin aisle of any store. He may also want to check with his doctor before starting it and see if there's any other vitamin deficiences he may have.

I started taking 5,000 micrograms a day. After about 4-6 months my hairdresser started noticing a difference. She recommended I ramp it up to 10,000 mcg a day. I have polycystic ovary syndrome that was having an effect on my hair. I also take B-12 and D-3 for my depression.

I'm about ready to have my FH give it a try since he's had classic male pattern baldness since he was 20.
