Menu Card Wording for Pre-Selected Meals

Jackie, on January 6, 2013 at 4:41 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 6

Hi Ladies! I really love how beautiful menu cards look at each place setting, but am unsure of how I should word my cards because the guests have already pre-selected entree choices on their RSVP cards. I am serving either surf and turf or a vegetarian option. My reception venue recommended not listing the vegetarian on the menu so people don't try to change their orders (less than 1/4 of the guests chose vegetarian), but I'm concerned there will be confusion if it's not listed. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

The last wedding I went to put a little sticker gem on everyone's placecard to indicate the meal they had chosen. This allowed the server to know who got what meal. Often your guests select their meal 1-2 months in advance and don't remember what they had chosen. I think the little color coded sticker worked really well, as the server just said oh you chose the beef, how would you like it cooked or something like that.

Hi!! I have no experience in the matter nor how limited the word count on the menus is. But here are some ideas!:

    1) have two menus , place the non vegetarian one in the seat of that who preselected non veggie and the same with the veggie menu.

    2) one menu both options and have a star or check marked the one selected.

Good luck! Either way I'm sure your guest will appreciate the thought . Smiley smile

While my daughter had both a vegetarian and a gluten free offering, they were not listed on the pre-selected choices on her menu cards. Here is a copy of my daughter's menu cards. We listed the other courses and for the entree, we had " Pre-selected" written on it. The menu cards were merely decor to match the other things on the table. Kelly King of Kelly King Designs, a WW vendor, did a custom design so that the escort cards, favor tags, menu cards and table tents matched witht he invitation suite and the programs.

You can say, "Welcome to our Wedding!"

Our Menu (such and such a place)

    Appetizer

    Choice of

    Entree

for those of you who ordered surf and turf: (give all details of meal)

For those of you who ordered the vegetarian dish: (give all details)

Please note food has been cooked per request and changes cannot be made.

Typically brides assign tables but not seats. If this is what you did, here's what you can do:

red sticker - surf & turf

    green sticker - vegetarian

Put both stickers (these colors or whatever you choose) on every menu. Then, put their choice on their escort card so they know what they ordered.

    LR's wording sounds good!

Even if you do not assign actual seats, at a table, you can have a place card, that guests pick up when they get their table assignment. This is where you can indicate the menu choice.

L.R. has a good solution to the menu, allowing you to list both entrees.
