Menu Cards at each table?

Damla, on June 14, 2018 at 9:30 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 26

I'm having a fully seated buffet for my reception. I wanted to set up 2 menus at each side of our buffet (it's a double-sided buffet) so that people would know what was on the line. I was going to order menu cards from the same designer that did our wedding invites, but the smallest number I can order is 15. I have 13 dining tables, so I was thinking about going ahead and purchasing the minimum number (15) and putting 1 menu per table plus the 2 on the buffet line. Do you think that putting 1 menu per table would be helpful or confusing for the guests? I don't want them to think that it's a plated dinner. I thought it might be helpful for them to see what was being offered before they get to the line so that it might move faster. Thoughts?

How many people are at each table? That would require them passing it around and waiting on the others.. I would say if you have 8 per table maybe 2 if you really want it at the table.

11 out of the 13 tables can seat 10 people, the other 2 tables can seat 7 people. So maybe 1 menu for each side?

Fully seated buffet just means that everyone will have a seat once they go through the line and everyone eats at the same time. It's similar to a plated dinner in that way. A partially seated buffet would mean that people can go and get food throughout the night. That ensures that not everyone is sitting at the same time. Some people will be eating, others will be dancing, at the bar, etc.

Yeah I would suggest 2 per table that way it's not a long wait to see it--- Not sure what style your wedding is but maybe a board of some sort

I don't know that I think menu cards are necessary. I ended up skipping them as they were expensive to print to match my invites, table numbers, etc. You could just label the food in the buffet line so people know what it is as they go through the line. I don't really think having a menu card or two at the table will result in people moving through the lines faster. or you could put up a board at the start of the buffet so people could read it as they wait in line.

I think placing the menu on table would be very helpful you could put on there that it is a buffet somewhere if you think there might be some confusion. It would make it faster having the menu so they aren’t just walking up and down buffet trying to figure out what they want.

I'm doing family style service, but I am putting a menu on each table! I'm actually doubling up and having the table number on one side (facing where the guests will come in) and the menu on the back. I'm specifying "Family Style Menu" at the top so people understand. I think you could do a similar thing that specifically said "Buffet Menu" and it would make sense. I hope that helped!

This is very helpful, thank you! And I love your idea of doing the menu on one side and the table number on the other side-super cost effective!

Yay! Great to hear! I love that we've decided on family style, but man does it add some unnecessary stress with the table. We've got to figure out how to have room for all the plates, glasses, platters of food, and any centerpieces we need. It was both cost AND space effective in the end Smiley smile

I think 2 per table sounds good if it isn't too expensive. Love the idea overall!

I don't think it's a bad idea! We are considering putting menus on each guests place setting. You could put something at the top that says "buffet dinner" or something to guests know.

We're just placing a menu at the buffet table so people can see what is on the menu. It's less costly as well.

That's what I originally wanted to do, but it seems that the smallest amount of menus I can order is 15. I tried to speak to the designer about it but she never got back to me. So I figured at this point it might be a little easier to just buy 15.

Have you decided how you are going to allocate which tables go up first and all of that?? I haven't determined that yet and am having a buffet style as well.
