Messy Updos: Into It or Over It?

Lynnie, on July 31, 2018 at 11:05 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 78

My official apologies to the royal family for mentioning Meghan Markle twice today - but it's got to be said. Smiley tongue I thought intentionally messy buns were just a thing you obsessed over in middle school, but apparently they are also a style you shell out big bucks for on your wedding day! While I'm very glad we've moved away from over-styled prom-like hairstyles (especially for bridesmaids), I'm not sure how I feel about "I woke up like this" wedding day hair!

Tell me what you think! Messy wedding updos - are you into it or over it ?

Loveee this one. I think depending on the vibe of your wedding they're beautiful.

I think it depends on the venue, vibe and dress. If its rustic I think its totally fine. I hate overstyled hair.

Over it, if I'm paying big bucks to get my hair done I want it to look special not like something I just threw together that morning.

I like messy up-dos and considered one for myself, but ultimately went with something a little more formal, to complement our venue.

Into it but I agree it depends on the bride/vibe/dress/venue.

I like it better than the early-2000's "over done prom style" updo, and for some girls it looks great, but personally I wouldn't choose this event to rock one - maybe for bridesmaids, but I've told mine they can do whatever they want.

Over it mostly but also think it can be executed better, and goes with a more boho styled wedding!

Into the loose, romantic, low chignon but not messy.

If it isn't done well, my updos end up looking messy anyway. I prefer a more chic look, but at least if it falls I can pretend it was intentional!

Into it! Almost all my inspiration pictures for my hair are messy updos. I think a messy style would look best with my dress!

I like it but its a bit to casual for me. It really comes down to the whole vibe of the wedding.

My Opinion... for a Bridesmaid ok but Not for the Bride! It’s not a wowed look & I can personally wear a messy bun any day of the week or weekend outing. I refuse to pay for a hairstyle anyone can put together. The bride should look Amazing not your average day look.

It honestly depends on the theme. If it's something rustic or something like that then yeah sure but if it's something super fancy then no.

I love it but I’m also into the more casual-boho look! I think this truly depends on your overall theme and vibe you’re going for.

Over it. But to each their own, for a backyard wedding or bohemian style wedding, I get it. But I am all about classy do's.

In my opinion, Messy for a casual dress and venue seems okay. But I paid X for my dress, XX for the venue, etc... I need to look and feel as elegant as my outfit and surroundings. I can be messy on my own. But definitely not over hairsprayef no movement look either. Smiley heart

Neutral: I say do whatever you want!!! maybe, the venue, theme and dress could sway my decision, but it's your day, your hair.. do what makes you feel beautiful! i may want a mix of a little messy, but def styled and make sure it stays put throughout the night!
