Mexican Food

Jorie, on February 5, 2019 at 8:34 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 18

Has anyone ever had Mexican food at their reception? It is my favorite and I really want to have it. I am worried it will look tacky. I am thinking I can "fancy" up the buffet with some glass bowls, signs, and containers at different levels. Any ideas or pictures of people who have done this??

I don't think it's tacky, but I think different Mexican foods will fit different formalities.

For example, if your wedding is casual you could do tacos. If you want a little nicer, you could do things like enchiladas and fajitas. If you want a more formal sit-down, maybe chicken mole, carne asada, and chili rellenos.

My venue is very formal and they have "fun stations", one being Mexican food. So, I don't think it's tacky. I think it all matters about presentation. It's becoming more and more popular. Just present it right and I bet people will raving all about it.

There was a forum who asked the same thing and someone posted some really pretty set ups for a taco bar! You could also do this (as pictured)

We are doing Mexican. The caterer is a farm to table mexican restaurant. We will have chicken, beans, rice, and vegetables. We are serving it family style, and my wedding is formal.

I’m doing tacos. It’s my fh and mines’s favorite meal, and we had Mexican. For our first date. I don’t care what anyone else thinks. It has meaning to us and our story.

We’re including a taco station at our wedding. We’re not having a traditional meal, more small plates and serving stations. I think it’ll be nice. You should serve what you guys like don’t worry what others will think.

I don't think it's tacky at all! I don't think it's traditionally formal, but it can still be semi-formal especially if you have nice linens & china.

Nooooo don't worry about this! I went to a gorgeous outdoor wedding with a Mexican food buffet and it was my all time favorite food at a wedding. It was sooo delicious and tacky never entered my mind. I was so full of delicious food and over the moon as a guest. I wish all weddings were so delicious.

It can be set up very nicely and done well. I say go for it, if you want it.

I think it's way more about the presentation than the actual food.

Mexican can be more than tacos. You could have small tamales, and maybe rice and mole chicken.

Hi Amy! Just curious to know what the buffet included? Planning a menu of Mexican food; taco bar and 2 other meals but wanted to get some ideas to what made your experience with the food great. Thank you!
