Mexico Wedding?

Kandice, on March 7, 2021 at 7:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Has anyone had a wedding in Mexico during covid? We were planning to have our wedding here in the states but now are looking at moving it to Mexico. What was your experience? Are passports taking longer to get? Did your venue include everything for the wedding?

Hi, so we had to postpone our México DW from last year to this year. So now is in August yeay!!! I did major research and eventually narrowed it down to my favorite resort. The resorts offer different wedding packages depending on how much or how little you want and of course that’s how the prices go as well. They do include a limit of guests on the packages but anything above that then you start paying per headcount. It included everything, ceremony, cocktail hours and reception wi basic set ups. Any questions let me know Smiley smile

Not a Mexico COVID bride but we had a destination wedding and learned you have to have a blood test to get legally married in Mexico. Most brides who have their celebration in Mexico go to the courthouse in their town in the US before or after to make it legal. Just make sure you think through those details before moving your event!

We let our Tulum vacation go because there wasn’t enough results for the test back to the states. Mexico can put down positive COVID test if they want. It’s two extra weeks and we didn’t want to risk it. A friend of my daughter to be ended up handing over an additional 8k because they could. Be careful all

Thank you. I’m so happy to hear you were able to move your wedding to August which is a good month to have your wedding in Mexico. I did see that a lot of them offer packages depending on what you want. My husband and I eloped but we are having a wedding because we wanted to have that experience and bring the family together. Did you have to use any vendors at all or are the flowers, dj, etc included as well? Also, any haggling that had to happen?

Oh wow! My husband and I are married all ready but are having a wedding for the experience and to bring family together. Would we still have to get a blood test?

Okay, so it probably would be best to just have a wedding here unless they waive the blood test due to us all ready being married.

Yes! This steered me away from Mexico weddings. Also the blood test must take place 10 calendar days BEFORE the wedding. So one must pay to lodge in mexico for at least 11 days.

If you are already married, you aren’t going to need any legal paperwork or a licensed officiant. It’s a vow renewal.
So you can plan it as a family reunion in a way with a renewal ceremony.

Yeah just to answer the blood test to get married, that is correct. We are doing a symbolic wedding and plan to get legally married prior to going, since you’re already married then you can also do a symbolic wedding Smiley winking!!... so I am choosing to use all of the in house vendors (less hassle for me), they also charge you a fee if you bring outside vendors so I am not trying to spend on unnecessary things. The packages include the basic decor set up, some flowers and so on. If I want extra then of course I pay. So the resort I chose does not include the DJ in the packages so I am paying the extra fee to have one, but some resorts do include it. Definitely no haggling.

Our resort is including Covid testing for free. We might go at a later date. I just want to see the numbers from Mexico first before I decide to vacation there.
