Miami - Reception - September 2020

We were planning on a Florida destination wedding with 50 people August 2nd and we ended up canceling. Every person was traveling from all over the country... so instead we are just doing a small ceremony and dinner in our home state.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear that. We are doing the same here on July 18th, just a ceremony and dinner with 18 people. I don't know what to do about the September 19th reception. Did you move yours out a year. I am happy that you have a plan for August.

It was such a hard decision... my family was very worried about it being safe to fly and be in a group of people and his family wasn’t.... our friends were split too. We Florida spiking again now I am so glad we canceled. We considered moving it to next year, but with all the unknowing with Covid we didn’t want to take a chance of having to change our plans again next year. Most of our vendors were very understand and refunded, but we did have a couple that only would do partial or no refund. We are leaning towards not even doing a reception when this is all done, just not sure at this point. We have even thought about just doing a big party with our friends in 2022 just to celebrate. Hang in there! When we first started considering canceling I contacted all our vendors to get a feel of how they would handle refunds. My thought was I wanted people to just enjoy themselves and not have to be stressed about covid! Have a wonderful wedding on the 18th!!!!

My wedding is September 2020 in CA and I feel your stress. Just know everything happens for a reason and it will all work out!

Hi Michelle! The current situation in Florida is definitely concerning right now, but all you can really do is keep in close contact with your venue and up to date on local guidelines!

I'll be thinking of you too! Very true! I think that I am dreading postponing for a second time. I think if I have to postpone this time, I'm going to move it out to September 2021.
