Michigan outdoor wedding in early May

Alessandra, on March 10, 2020 at 10:15 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7

Hello! My fiance and I originally had planned for a winter wedding but have since decided we'd rather have our ceremony outside, since our venue has a beautiful backyard space. The only dates they have left for outdoor ceremonies in 2021 are May 1 and May 8. Has anyone else been to an outdoor wedding in Michigan during this time of year? Is it terribly uncomfortable if the temperature is in the upper 60s range? This is stressing me out!

I think upper 60s would be perfectly comfortable weather. Our wedding was outdoors at about high 50s low 60s (can't remember exactly) and it was great weather.

I've been to an outdoor wedding ceremony when the weather was 45-50 degrees and windy. I think people from Michigan should know to dress for the weather! Make sure you have a backup option in case of rain!

    Upper 60's sound amazing honestly.

Does your venue have an indoor option, just in case? I live in MA and May is typically in the 50s for us (sometimes we get to the 60s). I would just make sure you have a back up in case it is unseasonably cold. I would also keep your ceremony fairly short. Good luck!

Upper 60's for Michigan would be ideal! Michigan is tough - it could be 70 degrees in May, there could still be snow melting... you never really know...

I'd say book it and have a backup as even in the best months, you can't control the weather. You can always rent heat lamps (like restaurants use) or have cuddle blankets available for use during the ceremony.

    60' isn't bad - especially after a Michigan winter (I'm a Michigander too!)
