Micro wedding reception entertainment?

Jasmine, on July 16, 2020 at 7:30 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 11
I have finally solidified my final wedding plans! My fiancé and I have cut our guest list in half to accommodate the comfort level of our parents for our fall wedding. We are only inviting 28 guests. The ceremony will take place in a small chapel in the mountains and the dinner will be at a winery 4 miles away. There will be a cocktail hour before dinner while we are doing pictures and dinner will be on a terrace that can seat about 25 guests comfortably. What type of entertainment would you suggest? There’s really no room for dancing, but there are speakers. I was thinking of possibly having my best friend’s brother singing while we eat. But I have no idea what else to do. The “reception” is pretty much just a dinner party with our families and friends. A friend of mine said with everyone eating and drinking that would be enough, but I don’t want anyone to get bored. On the other hand we aren’t trying drag the night along either. Suggestions?

You can have a playlist created with your favorite songs to play while you eat and converse!

Just having a playlist with dinner music would be fine. If people aren’t going to dance they won’t want lots of music anyway. Something soft and enjoyable would be nice.

Hey 👋 so I am doing something similar after ceremony going to a restaurant and have a party room. So pretty much I will have included a toast (Moscato and sparking water for parents since they don’t drink) and cutting the wedding cake as well as a photographer present but it sounds like everything is fine on your end I understand you don’t want your family and friends to be bored but I highly doubt they will since you mentioned about pictures and cocktail hour and You can possibly have a dance with the father and husband before sitting down but with close family friends I’m pretty sure you will have a blast 💥

We’re thinking about having a playlist play for everyone during dinner, etc. It’s going to be more of a formal dinner party (no dancing). Everyone will get to enjoy cocktail hour, and then we’ll have it for 3 more hours. We’re planning on cutting the cake, but I’m not sure what else we will do besides eat, talk and drink lol. We may do an impromptu “first dance” but that’s about it.

I'm doing exactly this for my October wedding too! We cut our guest list to about 25 people and our venue is a restaurant so guests will probably just eat and mingle. But besides cutting cake, toasts, and our first dance, we may also have lawn games or even play the "shoe game" for some funny entertainment for our guests.

A string quartet or just a cellist would be beautiful. Caricaturists are fun too and not that expensive to hire one or two.

I am planning to have music, lawn games and just doing our dance together no other traditional things. I am planning on spreading people out more than initial plan and most likely only half the people will be coming. I hope no one gets bored but having it outside I think people can talk and will keep busy. We are having plated dinner and cupcakes.

Guests are happy to chat and mingle when there's nothing else going on.
