Micro-wedding timeline?

Layla, on July 29, 2021 at 9:50 AM Posted in Planning 1 6
My wedding will be either 15 or 18 people total, we’re having the ceremony and reception in private rooms of a resort. I’m a little concerned that the rooms are too big for my # of guests, but I’m just going with it bc there’s no other space at the venue. I want to have a first dance, but not I’m not sure when to do it… has anyone had a small wedding and incorporated a first dance? Also if you’d be willing to share your timeline (like time of ceremony, dinner, etc) I would be so grateful.

My husband and I had a minimony with 35 guests last October. Our ceremony started around 5:30PM and I feel like it only took about 15-20minutes. We kissed and did the first dance immediately after. When we finished the first dance, we took pictures with our guests and dinner was served. My husband and I finished our couples pictures while our guests began eating. We ate once we finished our pictures.

We didn't do a bouquet toss, garter toss, parent dances or anything like that because we are saving it for our upcoming celebration this October. Once we finished dinner we started taking shots lol. I believe we were there until about 10-11pm if I remember correctly?

I love the idea of doing the first dance right after the ceremony! Did you have the music on an iPod and someone just pressed play? That's what I'm thinking of doing. Your minimony sounds like it was a lot of fun Smiley smile

My husband had the song waiting on his phone (it was connected to bluetooth speakers). His bestfriend turned on/off the song when my husband signaled to him. It definitely was alot of fun!

I love what you did Jasmine!! I think that works so well and prolongs the wonderful exciting and intimate feelings fresh from the ceremony! Smiley ring

You could also do your 1st dance right after your guests are seated for the reception, while your guests are eating, or immediately following dinner!

We are also doing a micro-wedding with 20 guest max. My finance isn't a dancer at all and I really want a first dance .He has agreed to do the boogie lol . Hopefully I can get him to go an actual real dance. One suggestion my venue gave me so the space doesn't look so empty . Use more guest tables and sit less people per table as well as space them apart.

    My rough draft timeline :

    Invite Time 6:00PM

    Sunset Ceremony 6:15-6:30PM

Hopefully we can get a few sunset pictures after 6:30-7:00PM

    Dinner starts 7:00-7:45PM

    First Dance 8:00-8:15PM

    General Dancing 8:15 -9:00PM

    Reception Ends 9PM

We aren't doing any cake cutting, bouquet or any garter tosses.
