Microphones for ceremony

Laura, on June 4, 2021 at 2:27 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 2 7
Hi all! I had a question I was hoping to get some feedback on. Our DJ only has a wireless microphone and a mic stand that we can use for our ceremony. I had wanted to use a lapel mic that could hook onto our officiants shirt so that there wouldn’t be a mic stand in pictures. Does anyone have any advice on this topic? Has anyone ever gotten a mic from someone other than a DJ? Just looking for any tips or ideas!

I'm not sure if you're having one, or toyed with the idea, but a videographer would most likely include lapel mics for you to use during the ceremony!

You might be able to talk with your DJ and see if there's a way you could add that in? Maybe order one and see if there's a way to connect it to their set up?

For our wedding, our officiant for a microphone and an individual microphone was used for us to say our vows and for our reader to speak. It was sat on the table that held the jars for our sand ceremony and our DJ turned it on when it was time for us to use it.

Find out if the dj has resources for a lapel mic from another vendor. Otherwise see if you can rent one from a local party rental business

We had the option of lapel mics or a stand or the officiant holding the mic in his hand (which seemed inconvenient).. So we went with the stand so that there wouldn’t be any issues with hearing. It’s a bigger microphone and picks up better sound. However, our wedding is at the beach where it’s loud with the wind and waves crashing. So a microphone with better audio quality was necessary. But, for me, a narrow mic stand was also a huge Non-issue.

So maybe you should probably rent your own lapel microphone and equipment to use.
