Microwedding reception: how to entertain people?

Hello! We are having an 18 person wedding and more of a dinner afterwards. We still get the reception room for 4 hours. What do we do after dinner? It’s at a very beautiful champagne cellar with open bar the whole time so I’m hoping just hanging out and talking over cocktails will be enough? I think we’ll have background music from an iPod but definitely not doing dancing/announcements/etc.

    If there is no dancing, people love to mingle and can easily do it for hours

    Totally fine! We did something similar: 15 guests, wine cave reception, full bar & dinner/dessert but no dancing or DJ. We had a soloist for cocktail hour and iPod for dinner background music. 👍

    I’m having something similar. No DJ or dancing (outside of our first dance). I created a Spotify playlist to play during the reception, and we’ll have dinner, toasts and play the shoe game.

    You could simply let the guests socialize. Perhaps you could do a trivia game with questions about you and your spouse. Such as "where was our first date?" Or "how long have we been together?"

    Letting the guests socialize is fine. I noticed my guests probably would have liked another hour tacked onto our 2 hour reception that had just food and an iPod for background music. No one really wanted to leave when our time was up. We had about 22 adults there.
