Mid-2021 and later couples

Elizabeth, on August 16, 2020 at 8:47 PM Posted in Community Conversations 3 29

Hey everyone!

I'm curious to know how everyone is handling the planning for mid-to-late 2021 weddings. We already have our venue, DJ, photo/video booked, however, I don't know if we should continue planning (as normal) or not due to all delays with CO-VID! I don't even know if I should order Save The Dates as of yet. ((Since we are getting married on a holiday weekend, they should be sent 10-12 months in advance)). What are your plans?

Our wedding is planned for mid-November next year. We have everything in place - venue, food, music, florist, officiant, photographer, videographer, entertainment, etc. We just sent out our STDs and have our invitations & details cards ready to go when the time comes. We are moving forward & planning as usual. I am actually going to pick up my dress next weekend & cant wait to see it! I think it is way too early to worry about how things will be a year from now. I would just keep moving forward, thinking positively, and enjoy planning your wedding!

My wedding is planned for March of next year. We have all of that booked as well and we sent the save the dates out at the end of June. I’m planning as if everything will still happen, I’m waiting until December/January to decide if we will keep it on or not

I spoke with my sister about this initially and she said the same. Plan as usual and if changes need to be made, cross that bridge when we get there. I appreciate your response !

That makes sense. Have you been in contact with your venue? Did they advise you to use those dates or was it completely your decision?

I would definitely suggest still planning for your wedding! It's way too soon to know how things will be next year. One thing you could do now is look through your contracts or talk to your vendors to find out what their postponement policies are, just so that you're aware ahead of time in case you need that info later. Otherwise, keep planning!

We are getting married October 2021 and proceeding as normal. All of our vendors are booked. We did that because 2021 basically has double the weddings due to so many 2020 postponements and everything has been booking up fast! We do have two backup plans in case of Covid issues, but we are still going to do Save the Dates and invitations as planned. If something needs to change in the future, we will deal with it then. In the meantime, we don’t want to let worries of what may or may not happen interfere with what we want our big day to be. We have faith that things will be okay regardless of what happens!

I spoke to them last week and asked about a cancellation/rescheduling policy. She mentioned that if it’s still restrictions she would give a full refund or I could reschedule at a later date. We both agreed that my final decision would be by February!

The thing is-- I'm also trying to be cognizant of the spending as well. We have quite a few vendors booked but we still are looking at floral, officiants, decor and stationary. Since deposits are traditionally non-refundable, I'm also concerned we might be wasting money being unaware.

Thats a great point! I guess if we continue with our bookings, we need to be open with those concerns with those potential vendors!!

That makes sense! Before you put any more deposits down going forward, find out what the cancellation/postponement policies are first, and try to book ones that are more lenient. Maybe focus on booking the vendors that you would still use if you were forced to postpone/downsize your wedding due to COVID?

That’s what we have been doing. We talked with each vendor about rescheduling policies and ensured that the contracts reflected what we were told. We didn’t pay any deposits until after thoroughly reviewing the contract.

We’re getting married on 4/3/21 & have not stopped any of planning. Our venue has an all inclusive package that is soo awesome! It even includes the invitations! In January we will be meeting up with the florist & the bakery to finalize that. We’re planning like there is nothing going on! If we need to change it then we’ll cross that bridge if & when we have to.

We postponed our 2020 wedding to May 2021. Therefore everything has just pushed been pushed out .. for now. I’d recommend still sending your save the dates, but I’d hold off on ordering the invites incase any details change.

Oh man, sorry to hear that Jessica. I did end up ordering the save the dates since nearly every response suggested to continue on as normal. I appreciate it !!

My FH and I are getting married in October 2021 and are planning as normal. So far, we have venue booked, save the dates printed and are meeting with a caterer this week. We are making sure we ask each vendor what their policies are if we need to reschedule/cancel due to COVID. So far, every vendor has said that we can change the date if needed at no extra cost.

I'm getting married in August of 2021. We are going full steam ahead with our plans. But we changed our guest list. We originally had planned on 150 people, now we plan on having 50 people so it will be safer and more manageable. Our venue can hold up to 400 so even if they are at a limited capacity we should be good to go.

Our date is 6/12/21 and as of now I am continuing on like normal. I booked almost everything already because I confirmed that our ceremony and reception places will still continue with our date but that we just might change seating up a little.
