Midi wedding dress?

Shannon, on July 27, 2021 at 8:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
So after a CONSIDERABLE amount of searching - I finally fell in love with *the* dress, however - it’s significantly longer than the dress I had set out searching for initially.

We’re getting married on the beach in the Caribbean with a handful of family present. It’s a pretty “rustic” island we’re tying the knot on, so I really want to be able to hem this to midi or ankle length to avoid it dragging in the sand/ scrub and getting yucky. Adding in - we’ll both be barefoot, and although I’m taller than average I’m still a solid 6+ inches shorter than my fiancé.
There are no “weird” seams in the back - so I’m thinking it shouldn’t be too hard to hack off the train, but I’m also thinking it could be cute to take the lace off the train, add a back slit and tack it on to the hem (which I think would look better as midi vs ankle)
Thoughts?!

Oh what a beautiful dress! I actually think a really classic, clean hem would look gorgeous on that, as a midi dress, but if you like the lace you should totally go for it! I understand most lace is designed to be removable so that dresses like yours can easily be hemmed without damaging it, so it shouldn't be impossible for them to be able to take it off and rework on a much shorter skirt.

    Thank you!!

From what they told me - the lace will come separate, so could easily be added to a hem or repurposed.
Trying on all those pretty dresses almost made me wish I also had opted for a formal affair 🤣

I also think a clean midi hem with that elegant flowy skirt would look beautiful!! 😍

Having the lace come separate should definitely help with the alterations! I'd take your dress to a seamstress and see what ideas they have!

    Thank you Lynnie!

I can’t even sew a button on… so I’m certainly going to defer to the pros on this one 😂
