Might be rude to ask but how many CT's is your engagement ring? What is average?

Rachel, on August 16, 2010 at 10:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 122

FH and I are looking at e-rings together. The jeweler said about 3/4 Ct. Center stone is what most people get. What do you think?

Also, feel free to post your e-ring pic. I know this blog has been done many times but I would like to see the pictures along with the sizes.

Thanks Ladies!

Mine is somewhere around 2 1/2 Total cw. I think the center stone is between 1/2 and 3/4. Honestly, I don't care! I saw some rings that were only 1/2 carat total weight that were totally gorgeous and some that were 3 carats that were super tacky!

    Find what you love!

Mine is about a half carat center stone with another half carat in smaller stones around it (pic attached)... that said, the marquis cut tends to show bigger than it is. It doesn't look like a full carat, but it definitely looks as big as a similar 3/4 ct. round cut.

Remember a flawless 1 carat is better than a flawed 4 carat Smiley smile. Don't look at size, look at clarity and color.

My center stone is a 2.4 radiant cut.

Sharon has a point! I've seen 1/2 carat that are flawless and 1 carats that look like cubic zirconias.

Mine is a total of 1 carat weight... i believe my center stone is a 1/2 caret and then the side stones obviously total 1/2 carat to make it one full. originally when we looked at rings I said a 1/2 carat was enough for me but he went a little bigger Smiley smile Honestly it could be any size and Id still love it because its from HIM Smiley smile

It's a lovely ring, more expensive than I thought it would be given that the center stone is not a diamond (gemstones ain't cheap when they're real), wouldn't buy from them again, customer service sucked. I think the ruby is about 1 ct, and the diamonds together might be .5 ct, could be wrong, platinum setting, but I would just go with white gold next time, saves quite a bit of money.

It sits really low, which I like.

Mine is 3/4. Very simple solitaire. I have already picked out my bands. Double bands to fit on each side. Circular diamons all around...to hightlight the solitaire.

I'm not sure what is the average, but my center stone is 5/8 of a carat and the ring as a whole is a full carat. I have a couple of friends that said "you should have held out for a full carat" (meaning the center stone) but I fell in love with this ring when I saw it and couldn't care less how big the stone is or what the clarity is.

The funny thing is the 2 friends who think I should have a bigger rind are also the only 2 in my group of friends who aren't married or seriously involved. I guess it proves that when you find the right person all the expectations in your head start to mean a lot less.

The way it is set makes it look larger. Cut and clarity are superb. I love it.

Mine is a 1.21 carat solitaire. clarity and color really are important as others have said. you don't want a yellow looking diamond just because it's bigger!

For me quality of the diamond is more important than the size.

I have .65, E color, internally flawless diamond, and it sparkles a lot. And the size is perfect for my little hands.

Color & clarity were important to me..that being said, the center stone is 1.11 & the eternity band is 1 carat.
