Military discounts in San Diego

meetthesteas, on June 10, 2015 at 1:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Hi! Just wanted to start a thread for other future military spouses to use as a resource. As a bride on a budget we are searching for the best deal in every aspect of our wedding without skimping the goods. Lets share the military vendors that we know of that honor discounts to enlisted and veterans military personnel in San Diego!

Free wedding dress for military brides, there are a few catches, like a deployment coming up or in the past five years. i'm not near San Diego, Florida actually but always willing to help a fellow military bride.

I am based in Reno, but last year I was down at the Admiral Kidd Club. I give a service discount- many vendors will. I am sure that there are many SD based DJs who will do so.

Best thing about SD and military couples are the venues: AKC, The Sub Base, Coronado Officer's Club plus plenty of other less gorgeous venues at MCRD, Camp Pendleton etc. The food is decent, the cost is amazing vs. say a hotel on the Embarcadero or on Harbor Island, and those three have multi-million dollar views Smiley smile

    Good luck and congrats!

Thanks!! I've contacted brides across America but haven't heard back yet. I know they have an event coming up in Orange County but that's a decent drive away from us (3 hours). Guess that's not a huge price to pay though considering they offer a free dress after all.

Thank you KC! We are having ours at the oceanview room on the sub base Smiley smile

We used Pixster and got that military discount! Whenever I inquired about a vendor, I always made sure to ask if they do any discounts for military. I believe most of our vendors did give us some type of discount, which was awesome! We got married in Temecula, so I'm probably not a big help. San Diego is a huge military town, so I'm sure there are a lot of discounts out there, just gotta ask!

Vendors appreciate what you do and what you sacrifice for being a part of our military. Like Kathleen says, just ask!

I have been gone from SD since 2000, but I did one of the first weddings at the then new sub base ocean view room. Great time- he was a Navy medic attached to the Marines and becoming a SEAL. Lots of great memories there. Have a phenomenal time!

I don't have any additional resources but I live in San Diego and it shouldn't take you 3 hours to get to Orange County (unless you're talking about round trip). I think it would be worth the drive for a free dress. Good luck with planning! Smiley smile

We are an experienced Wedding Video Company in North San Diego County, (Oceanside) and would be honored to give a military discount. I agree, do just ask; you have much to be proud of, and we appreciate you. Feel free to add us to the list, and hope to hear from you too.

During the hot summer months we have also run sales for venues that are within ten miles of the ocean. Love that summer breeze when you want to look your best!

Hi! Fellow military bride here. Meetthesteas-I'm also getting married at ocean view! I've had questions while planning and my assigned catering manager hasn't been helpful. I'm in the market for a DJ right now. How has planning been for you? I know if a dress shop in OC that offers a VERY generous discount to military brides. Would love to chat further!

Hi! Isn't it the most beautiful venue??? Our catering manager wasn't very helpful at first either but, I requested to meet her a few weeks ago and she gave us the run down. They are such a simple operation that I think the FINE details other venues offer could slip through the cracks. When is your big day? They are having a catering fair at the Admiral Kidd on February 4th, where you can taste the food options and chat with potential vendors. We have all of our basics covered as for vendors so far and as far as I am concerned all at reasonable cost. Cost was the biggest factor aside from anything and after meeting with the vendors we have chose I am really extremely happy with our decisions! I think I've added all of our vendors to the vendor list on my page. As for DJ we are using Paul Peterson the High Energy DJ. His rate is $995 for 6 hours with a $75 deposit. We met with Paul and he is a fun down to earth guy that really cares about every aspect of your wedding not just the part he is there for. Would definitely love to chat more!!

Following! My fiance and I are getting married in La Jolla and our reception venue, The Darlington House (absolutely gorgeous by the way!) gave us a 10% military discount, and they are also a non-profit whose proceeds create affordable housing for the elderly. So you get the discount and still help an amazing cause, win-win! Also since it's been a while since this thread was started, Brides Across America is going to be doing another bridal event in Glendale, CA (just around 2 hours away in the LA area) on July 11th and I'll be getting my dress for free there. Here's the link again, bridesacrossamerica.com but make sure to read the requirements to make sure you qualify for a free wedding dress Smiley smile
