I'm just curious who else has any one actively in the military coming to or being a part of their wedding. My FH's older bro will be a groomsman and is in the air force as a load master (works with planes a lot) and my cousin's husband is a Marine and has been in for like 20 some odd years and I don't know what he does because unfortunately I have never been able to meet him. I'm excited to see them in their dress blues..... uniforms (I know FBIL will be wearing "dress blues" but I'm not sure if that's what it's called in the Marines?) Just wanted to start a convo I haven't yet seen on here since joining.

My FH is a mechanic in the national guard and will be getting married in his dress blues. He's recruiter will also be there in her uniform as well. I'm excited to see them dressed up together

My husband is active duty and he and any military members participating in the wedding wore uniforms (we had a "military" ceremony) but no one else did. I always think it's a little odd to wear your uniform just because but it's their uniforms and I guess they can wear them whenever they want?

Most of my family is military and para-military, I'm looking forward to seeing the sea of dress blues/Class As. I'm honored everyone was able to request to come home for the weekend to be able to attend.

@Samantha, First thank you for your service. Second, I don't feel it is attention seeking at all. I don't know why you wear your dress blues most of the time but I know for my family members it is something they earned and it is a sense of pride to be able to wear them. They rarely have the opportunity to wear them and I'm glad to know my wedding will rank high enough for each one to not only task themselves with requesting leave but getting themselves home and wearing their uniform they work so hard for. If any of them chose to wear a tux/suit/dress instead, thats fine and completely up to them but they have earned the right to wear their uniform proudly.

The guests that are active have told me they would be wearing their dress blues, it's something they're proud of. My cousin isn't active anymore and she says it's disrespectful to wear any form of uniform after you become a civilian again, so I would gather that only active military personal would wear uniforms.

My brother and sister-in-law are both officers in the Navy. All groomsmen (except for SIL's brother) were also Navy and/or Marines. They chose to wear their uniforms for the ceremony and pictures and then changed into suits for the reception.
