Mini Calla Lily Boutonniere?

A, on March 1, 2018 at 10:54 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

Has anyone ever made their own calla lily boutonnieres? I got quotes from two florists and one wanted to charge $15 for a calla lily boutonniere and the other wanted $30. So confused. That seems like a lot, but I am not a floral expert and have never made boutonnieres before.

I am still so undecided what to do for flowers. I only really need seven boutonnieres, two wrist corsages, and my bridal bouquet. The quotes end up being around $500. Waaaaay more than my budget. I can't seem to find anything quite right from big box stores since they don't carry any bridal bouquet options with purple and white flowers.

$15 sounds right. Calla lilles are very expensive. I had them for my bouquet when I married exH and my bouquet alone cost just over $200 and it was the smallest bridal bouquet size the florist offered.

Wow, really?? I had no idea they were a more expensive flower. The one florist wanted $20 for a rose boutenniere, but then when I requested a change it went up to $30 for the calla lily.

Yeah, they can be expensive. For comparison sake, my bouquet when I married H was mostly sunflowers, the largest bouquet size offered, and only cost me $100.

    Check out these: https://www.etsy.com/listing/579532873/calla-lilies-wedding-package-picasso

There are a ton on Etsy if you're OK with going with fake flowers. You could do fake bouts and just get real flowers for your bouquet, if you want.

I'm doing fake calla lilies for mine, but not in white. I'm using them with fake roses and whatnot for all the bouquets, too.

Our calla lily boutonnieres are $12 each. I would see about etsy having some fake ones.

Calla lilies are very expensive flowers, so $15-30 seems about right. You might want to consider changing the flower to something less expensive or using fake ones.

Please keep calling around....my daughters bouquet will have callas, roses, lavender, hydrangeas, and some other fillers and her bouquet is $150. The grooms bout is a calla and it is $10, and our corsages with roses, fillers, etc are only $9, I am in Orlando. You may have to keep calling to find a small out of the way florist but I am sure you can find some to make these for less than $250

Whoa. Those prices sound amazing. I'm going to a bridal expo this weekend, so I am hoping one or two of the florists there will be offering discounts. Otherwise I will have to keep looking around in the area. The florist quoting me these prices also gave me a $140 quote for the bridal bouquet (freesia, lavender rose, stock, white hydrangea, white spray rose, greens...). Might just stick with that and shop around for the boutonnieres. Really don't want to do them myself and have it go horribly wrong! I'm crafty, but have never worked with real flowers before.
