Minimony day of time line

Kristen, on September 22, 2020 at 10:32 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

Does this sound logical for our minimony? Background we have our venue for three hours, only my MOH, her hubby and my big bro will be there (big bro won't stay long post ceremony I am sure) and we only get one room for changing. My FH wants to change at the venue and that is where I want to get ready. I will also confirm all this with my photographer. I have the photographers scheduled for 4 hours per their suggestion and I could not reduce the hours without losing out on money. I do not want to pay and additional $200 per hour nor do I want to stay the night in this bed and breakfast. Here are my thoughts:

3 p.m. - FH arrives and gets ready and is done and out before 3:30 (he can take pics elsewhere on site)

3:30 p.m. MOH and I get ready (hair and make up will already be done as I am going to the studio to get it done)

4 p.m. or 4:15 p.m. our ceremony starts (15 minutes elopement ceremony)

4:30 ish - 6 pics at and near the venue

5 pm cake cutting and pics with cake cutting (some time to eat too)

5:30 - 7 pack up and leave venue and take more pics nearby as it is near the water and there are cute roads to take pics

7 - our two friends and us head off for our rooftop dinner.

Thoughts?

Sounds like as long as everyone knows their roles and knows the schedule it should run smoothly!

Well only 5 of us total and I will make sure my officiant and photographers and of course the FH is aware lol. I figured really once the ceremony is over the only pending time frame is basically us leaving the venue on time. Cake cutting can be whenever as I just want pics of it ya know?

With such a small group it should be easy! Just make sure he is out of the room in time for you to get ready lol!

He better be or we will square up! LOL. I will probably be the more complicated one getting dress pics and what not but I may tell my photographer to take dress pics out of the room if she can. I figured if we are little behind in the ceremony as most weddings are I am giving us like 15 minute buffer. I am hoping with such a small group it should be ok since less people to wrangle. Thanks so much.

So you'll be at the venue 3-6, then a nearby pretty place from 6-7? If so, I definitely think it works, but I do have some suggestions.

I understand why you're having 3 hours at your venue and 4 hours of photography, but that's a lot of post-ceremony photo time. Do you want sunset photos or something between 6 and 7? If that's not a factor, would the photographers follow you to the rooftop dinner to get photos there (making toasts, maybe) instead of going to a separate location after the ceremony? If they won't, or if the sunset or your dinner reservation or something else is a factor, maybe you can give yourselves more time to get ready and start the ceremony a bit later, but keep the rest of your plan the same.
I don't want to discourage you at all from sticking with your current timeline if you think it'll make you happy, but you might enjoy your day more if you're occupied by something other than smiling and posing the whole day.

Nah no discouragement at all. After things were booked and contracts signed I asked my photographers can we go from 4 to 3 hours and they said no because they would lose money. Hey I appreciate them being real. So I was thinking to ask them earlier today to move onto the city where the rooftop dinner is. Since it is a lounge I am not sure my FH would wanna take professional pics there but the downtown is beautiful and would love some night time pics there too. I am almost considering leaving the venue a little early and take time to take pics there but yes I wanted to golden hour. My photographers suggested earlier ceremony time to get more sun and natural light pics but I def want sunset there at the venue because the sun sets over the water there and I would love that shot. I will also see what they say but I am more than open to suggestions for the timeline of course. Smiley smile
