Minimoons and how to make them special!

Brittany, on October 20, 2020 at 10:51 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 4

Hello everyone, so FH and I did not want to spend too much nor really go anywhere with COVID going on. We settled on getting a hotel room in Las Vegas (where we live) and just spending time with one another. My FH is not into the whole drinking or partying scene but we do love to hike and do outdoor activities. We will probably go to Boulder Beach or Red Rock and hike. What are you doing for honeymoon/ minimoon if anything? How are you making it special for you and your SO? Are you concerned with COVID? How might that affect your plans?

Hey Brittany! My husband and I are going on our minimoon next month, and we're just going on a small weekend getaway to Nevada City (small town in CA). We don't really have any set plans on what we're going to do except just relax, sleep in, and enjoy our nice airbnb. We'll probably go on lots of hikes too, and also walk around the down town area. Maybe check out a few shops and restaurants there. In terms of COVID, right now most things are open still so we're hoping the county doesn't shut down by then, but we're going to keep our distance from other people of course.

That sounds fun! Been there with my dh and kids. We hiked and climbed the Red Rock. It’s beautiful. Las Vegas definitely has more to offer than drinks and parties. In fact, 5x there we never drink or party 🤣

Honeymoon. We plan to stay in a beach resort and enjoy the time away from the kids. We never travel alone, always with kids. So this is very special to me after 25 years of elopement. Eek 🤪 I know, right? Activities will be sleeping in, breakfast on beach-view-balcony, hang out at the beach, lunch at the resort restaurant, take a nap, walking around the resorts’ mall, dinner on the beach, and maybe some activities like sailing, helicopter ride, etc. I prepared some lingeries and fun tools to play with while we have no kids to interrupt us, that’s special to us 😬
Covid effected our plans a lot. We are very concern about our kids, so we postponed our destination wedding. Spring 2022 hopefully will be way saver to travel than now. I hope everything is “normal” by then.

We booked a 5 day stay at a lodge in the Lake George area that had a minimoon special that included nightly horderves, gondala rides, has a fireplace and jacuzzi in the room, a massage package and breakfast in bed options etc. the hotel also gives access to the lake so you can rent kayaks and stuff. we're also planning to do outdoor stuff like rail-trail rides (its a bike connected to a train track for a scenic riding experience - no more trains ride on it lol) and do stuff like hikes going up mountains, and leaf peeping. Actually, our area will be having a moose rut happening too; i seem to be on a never-ending pursuit to see bull moose so hoping we can find one!!

honestly we're looking at it as just having somewhere else to go by ourselves, not having to worry about anyone else or work and just spending some sweet relaxing time together is gonna make it special enough for us. We aren't drinkers either so *shrug*.

I already had covid so i do have a little less fear of it but not so much so that i'm gonna take chances of being someone who gets it twice - we'll stay away from everyone and i'm bringing lysol spray and wipes with me and plan to spray the whole hotel room lol (very romantic, lol).

The area you're in has plenty to do though so maybe look to see if there's some cool stuff out there other than the hikes that can really be social distanced well - maybe make it special though by bringing some romantic things too? chocolate strawberries, champagne (or sparkling cider or whatever you like), etc

We are going to the poconos week of Thanksgiving. Plan on hiking, winery, shopping, bonfires and grilling. Rented a house, that's an Air bnb. Plan on making it special by a romantic/sexy night & allowing ourselves to relax and enjoy, and only answering texts if it's an emergency. Last time we went away my neighbor texted me a lot with pics of my cats because she was cat sitting for us and that was a little overbearing because it was constantly. We arent really concerned about covid because the poconos can be secluded.
