Mint Julep Cup Centerpieces

Megan, on June 2, 2014 at 12:44 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6

Calling all brides who have used mint julep cups!!! I've decided to DIY our reception flowers. We are having a somewhat large outdoor garden reception with long banquet tables, and I want to do a lot of centerpieces straight down the center of the table of roses in mint julep cups. I have my heart set on metal cups, but at this rate I'll be spending hundreds of dollars just on the cups! I know that plastic (silver-tone) mint julep cups are available at a significantly lower cost. I was wondering if anyone has used them, compared them, etc. Can they really pass for metal? Do they look like sturdy plastic trying to be metal? (Are they more suited for a Kentucky Derby party vs. a wedding?) Our wedding is going to be somewhat formal in terms of decor (Virginia horse country) and I want to make sure the cups won't look cheap in this particular setting.

I haven't used them or compared them, but in all honestly, no one is going to notice. I think it's ok to use the cheaper ones. If people are looking at them and thinking "oh, those aren't real...how tacky" then they have issues.

So you'd be in excellent company by using plastic Smiley smile

I think Plastic would be just fine - people won't know the difference If they don't know what your original plan was.

Thanks for the thoughts! I know this is a minor detail that I've become obsessed over (clearly I need to relax on the details a little!) The plastic ones do look a lot like polished silver mint julep cups, so I will probably end up going in that direction.

I loved Kentucky Derby Licensed Mint Julep Cups as we Celebrate history with these glasses, featuring the race winners since 1875, including the Triple Crown winners everyone is raving about. There many more Mint Julep cups recommendations which you can find in this article Smiley heart
