Mismatched Bridesmaids dress ... What should i do about the ties?

Kelsey, on May 1, 2020 at 11:51 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

Hi everyone,

Long story short, I have 2 different bridesmaid dress colors (burgundy & desert rose) -- I was planning on the groomsmen all having burgundy ties (when the plan was having the girls in all one color). Now that I have 2 different colored dress do I have two different colored ties? Or just have the boys be uniform?

We’re doing all different color bridesmaid dresses and having the guys match each girl with the tie color (they’re all in the same theme.) so I don’t think it’s odd if you do 2 colors

Thanks for replying! Are you having the matching groomsmen have the same color then or the opposite?

We’re having the groomsmen who walk with the bridesmaid to have their matching dress color, if that makes sense?

I would have the men wear the same tie color. Mismatched ties tend to look more sloppy than complimentary.

So, if I had all the groomsmen in one color— would have i my fiancé in a color that is closer to my dress?

I've never seen the groom match his tie to the bride's dress, but I suppose it could work. My bridesmaids alternated between dusty rose and vintage mauve, my MOH wore burgundy. Our "bridesmen" wore navy pants and burgundy bowties. My wife wore navy pants and a navy floral tie.

Oooh I never thought about having maybe a floral pattern. Thank you! And by the sounds of it — your wedding party looks were amazing!

I think its better to have the groomsmen all match. We got married last week but pushed back our big wedding so we'll still have a bridal party. My bridesmaids are mismatched with pink or gold or beige dresses. Groomsmen are wearing black tuxes, black shirts and green bowties. My husband will be wearing a green tux, same green bowtie, and a white shirt.

I attended a wedding where each bridesmaid wore a different color dress, and the groomsmen wore ties to match the dress of their accompanying bridesmaid. Also, for my wedding, my husband's tie matched my dress. The bridesmaids all wore petal pink and the groomsmen wore ties to match. All the guys, including my husband, wore the same grey tux. My husband wore a tie with stripes of champagne, ivory, and gold. My dress had a champagne underlay with ivory lace. It looked good in pictures.

Those are my colors as well! Bridesmaids in burgundy and MOH in desert rose. Groomsmen will have burgundy bow ties to match the girls and BM will have a desert rose bow tie to match my MOH.

My maid of honor will be in a dark grey, my matron of honor in a deep red and my bridesmaids in black. Now we kinda did a totally different take on the color idea but he likes all black stuff with black shirt and red vest tie and what not and his BM and groomsmen in a black suit white shirt and lighter silver vest and tie. We are October 30th!!! Mismatched Bridesmaids dress ... What should i do about the ties? 1

I’ve got Navy and Burgundy and my plan is my MOH in Burgundy and the Maids in Navy then their partners will be in the opposite color so they go nicely together and the colors are evenly distributed between the wedding party

I think either would look fine! I’d probably just do all uniform for simplicity’s sake.

I had my MOH and 4 bridesmaids all pick different dresses that they were comfortable with from azazie in different colors (rustic beach and mountain wedding) of light pink, dusty rose, sage, silver, and taupe with the groomsmen/BM each matching with a bow tie to one of the girls. Their dresses have similar necklines and are all floor length but some have a lace back, others sheer, with varying straps. It looks awesome!
