Mismatched decor/centerpeices

MrsVoegs17, on January 24, 2017 at 1:28 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

I am DIYing my decor and center pieces. I am going for a rustic/vintage look for our backyard wedding, leaning more towards rustic. My vision is lanterns, mason jars, attractive wicker baskets, vintage picture frames, lace, burlap, wooden crates... Is it too tacky to have mismatched center pieces, and is combining rustic/vintage pushing it a little too far (do these styles clash with each other?). I like the rustic decor looks I find when I google rustic wedding. I am collecting a variety of items from antique and thrift stores to use for decor, and all of the styles are similar. I have attached some photos of what I am aiming for for decorations. I want all my center pieces to include burlap, a block of wood, a mason jar and/or lantern, and candles, with our table numbers being made out of vintage picture frames.

Thoughts appreciated!

I think if they all coordinate it's okay if they don't match perfectly

I'm doing mismatched things. My venue is an old bank turned into a music school and is going to take place in 2 somewhat separated funky rooms so this seemed like it would fit.

I personally LOVE mismatched center pieces! As long as they still kinda coordinate.

I think it'd look charming if you have mistmatched centerpieces - as long as there's one cohesive theme I think you'd be fine.

We're doing mismatched centerpieces too. My mom and sisters are sick of me saying "I don't want everything to match."

ETA: we are making sure that everything ties together.

I too am doing a backyard/vintage wedding! I have spent the last six months going to goodwill/salvation army and various other dirt cheap thrift stores! I have purchased everything for SO cheap. I even scored an awesome vintage couch to use for free! Check your local newspaper for estate sales too! You can definitely pull off a tasteful mismatched vintage wedding as long as everything coordinates!

@Jess - I see you have tags on your mason jars. Are those your party favors?

That's just a pic I got off pinterest. But it does look like they are the favors. That would be super cute. I just saved it for the way the runners look.

I love the mismatched look. It makes each table unique. Good luck DIYing those, I'll be having just jars upon jars with burlap, lace, and twine for my centerpieces. Simple and rustic.
