Mismatched groomsmen too much?

Kate, on February 27, 2017 at 3:58 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 2 7

I'm doing mismatched bridesmaids dresses, all the same designer and chiffon fabric (except MOH who will have top half lace overlay). I'm doing 3 different colors- petal pink, wisteria and plum. I'm leaning towards grey suits for the groomsmen and am debating whether to let them all just wear any grey suit they have/want. I'm worried it may either be too much mismatching, or that it will be harder for FH to stand out from them. My other thought is having them all in the same grey but FH in a slightly light or darker shade. I wanted to get some opinions on the different shades of grey, anyone else doing this? Thanks! I tried attaching a pic of the bridesmaid dresses as a reference.

ETA: Can't figure out how to post a picture

I'm doing mismatched bridemaids...all different brands/styles fabrics in blush, but all the groomsmen are wearing the same suit-1)because that's what FH wanted and 2)because I had this same concern about their being nothing cohesive in our pictures.

We're doing mismatched bridesmaids dresses too and the groomsmen are having mismatched ties (same color, different designs). We are also doing grey suits and thought that different shades of grey might be too much. Unless your FH wants to do a slightly different suit and have the GMs in the same ones.

Why don't you do the same suit but different color vest/ties for the guys? I'm helping a wedding now and she brought in the dresses so we matched the dresses with the vest/tie but same suit!

Hmm different ties could work. I'm leaning towards full suit (pants, vest, tie, jacket) for FH and then just no vest for the groomsmen.

If your style allows it maybe you could have FH in a suit and the GMs in vests, then they could be mix match and he still stands out. Or vests and suspenders, etc. I personally don't like mix match so all mine are matching but we may be doing something like that with our guys.

This photo was my FHs inspiration. He's wearing a full suit and just told his guys to wear grey slacks, a white shirt and grey vests. We're providing matching ties for them. My girls are wearing different dresses in the same length and color. I'm also doing mismatched vases as centerpieces. Our wedding theme has inadvertently become "mismatched" haha. It suits the laidback vibe that we're going for.

Oh I like the just vest look better than just jacket look! Especially with the shirt sleeves rolled up like that! It could be a warm day mid-September and I bet the guys would be way more comfortable. Thanks for the idea Smiley laugh
