Mixed culture Serbian/american wedding?

Nina, on April 10, 2018 at 5:46 PM Posted in Planning 2 1
Hi,
Is anyone else planning or has planned a mixed culture wedding before? My fiance is American and I am Serbian. Our ceremony will be in a Serbian Orthodox Church, however the pastor will speak in English (so my fiance and his side can actually understand what's going on😉). European receptions are typically big parties with lots of music and drinking so I am trying to accommodate that while also accommodating his preferences (their family is more quiet and reserved). I just want to make everyone happy. How was your experience planning or attending a mixed culture wedding?

Mine is mixed, I'm half Saudi Arabian, FH is white as the day is long, haha, a typical irish/british/Swede mixture Smiley winking
Since I've planned most of it the decor/colors are more on the Arabian side, but music, food and BOOZE are far more western Smiley smile I've snuck in a couple dance songs that are an englisb/Arabic mix, and we will do an Irish handfasting as part of our ceremony! Over all it has been really fun finding ways to incorporate all sides and I've enjoyed it.
Emember people who are more quiet and reserved will still enjoy a reception where they can talk and "people watch" , while everyone else is dancing and having fun - plus sometimes when recognizing it's another culture they will go ahead and join in for the experience Smiley smile
