Mixing real and fake flowers

Paige , on March 16, 2018 at 6:28 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17
I am so torn, my Mom wants me to use fake and sola wood flowers and I wanted real, however, she’s trying to sway me her way by saying “then we could make up your bouquet way in advance so you KNOW it’s exactly what you want” and she’s right, i’m picky, and an anxious person.. so the real question is. Would it be silly to do sola wood flowers and fake baby’s breath for bouquet’s, boutineers, & corsages in fake and centerpieces in real baby’s breath?!

Opinions?!

I went with solar flowers and Maroons and Dusty pink and baby breath and I tell you my bouquet that is being made is stunning Lee gorgeous but you are the bride it's up to you what you want for your wedding don't let others talk you out of what you want for your dreams day you only get this day once I went with Sola flowers because I'm doing The Rustic theme plus I'm getting married at the courthouse this year and next year having the reception and renewal of my vows and my flowers will hold up really well if kept in the container they were in when orders for the next year but every bride is different like I said you do what makes you happy

I am the exact same way! I’m experimenting with w combination of sola flowers and dried real flowers (baby’s breath/other white filler, eucalyptus, and thistle)! I can tell you I was skeptical of sola flowers but they definitely look better photographed than in person. Attached is a mock up I made with materials I had, sola flowers and fresh eucalyptus (couldn’t find dried at the time) just to give you an example!

I think that's kinda silly, tbh, but I'm not at all a fan of fake flowers. If you really want a real bouquet, that's what you should have. It's not your mom's bouquet or decision, it's yours.

I think if you’re going to do bouquets and everyone else’s flowers(the more important flowers, IMO) in fake or sola, there isn’t a point to doing centerpieces with real.

I think you should do whatever feels best for you! I also originally had my heart set on real but I couldn’t fathom the cost. I think it’s fine to mix, also. We’re planning on doing fresh cut eucalyptus for our tables, but I want my bouquet prepared ahead of time to save the stress. Baby’s breath is inexpensive, and you could certainly have it as centrepieces...I don’t think anyone will notice or care if your bouquet is not real and your Center pieces are, it’s just a matter of preferences!

My parents are paying for the wedding, so I do feel as if her opinion matters. Lol

Thanks for your take on it!! This has me thinking more.. I always thought of it the opposite, I suppose, because guests will be close up to centerpieces and such and the rest will mainly be seen from afar by guests, and I know my WP won’t care either way. Maybe I care a little too much what others think, lol.

Do you want fake flowers at all? If you want real - this is something I would put my foot down on. If you have to pay for it yourself - then so be it. I think you can compromise and do fake for the bridesmaids or decor.

My parents paid for my wedding too, but that didn't mean I couldn't pick my own bouquet.

I said nowhere that I couldn’t pick my own bouquet, just what my mother’s opinion was and that it does matter to me - please reread original post, I was only asking opinions on mixing real and fake, and stated want(ed) real but also thought my mom might be right with her reasoning.

I guess for me as a guest centerpieces aren’t something I remember, but my bouquet as a bride was really special to me. I’ve been married twice and both bouquets had personal touches that meant a lot to me and to my relationship.

I did read your original post. You said "I wanted real, however, she’s trying to sway me her way", and I'm simply reminding you that you don't have to sway her way if you don't want to. And you can't control the responses you receive on a public forum.

And then it says “and she’s right, i’m A picky, and an anxious person.... so the real question is.” 😉 i’m definitely open to all opinions and I’ve thanked several who share their views. I really appreciate the opinions of all others and take everything into consideration, which is why I was asking thoughts on mixing real and fake.
