Mixing Round & Long Tables?

Chelsea, on February 23, 2017 at 10:51 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

Hi ladies!

My wedding is 2 weeks from tomorrow and I'm trying to decide on table arrangements. I really wanted to do all long 8' tables (I just love the look of garland with flowers mixed in). However, a couple tables have 9 people, and the long tables with a garland will only comfortably seat 8. There's no way around those 9-person tables due to the groups and such. So I was thinking of mixing up long and round tables, and the centerpieces on the round would just have a bouquet in the middle instead of garland.

Has anyone done this for their wedding or attended one that did? I'm curious how it would look and I'm not sure if I should do 4 round, 8 long (we have 12 tables total) or if it would need to be even, etc.

Thanks! Smiley smile

My SIL did mixed tables and it worked out pretty well. The long tables made a sort of perimeter/box around the dining space and the round tables were in the middle.

We have mixed tables- five round tables that will be on the dance floor for dinner and moved after dinner. Plus 12 long rectangular tables around the dance floor. My centerpieces are different for each table, but I think the mix in tables will look more dynamic.

I have personally never been to a wedding where the tables were like this, but I did a quick image search and found this. I think it looks beautiful.

We're doing this. Initially I had doubts, but when I saw how the venue set it up, it looked awesome!

You can do this...no doubt. We've done it, and as long as the garlands relate to the round table centerpieces, it a;; looks coordinated. What greenery and flowers are you using in the centerpieces (typically, it's some form of eucalyptus interspersed with flower heads)? Just use that greenery in stems, put it in a vase with soaked oasis, and insert the same flowers that you used in the garlands (just don't cut the stems off). It's an easy fix.

Mixing table shapes look fantastic! If you're firm on long 8' tables, you can also fit the 9th person at the end of the table or simply sit four on one side of the table. Here are some events that illustrate the combinations of table shapes for reference.

We are doing a mix as well, 2 long tables and 6 round booths. Not my wedding, but this is my venue.

I had a very similar dilemma! I wanted to make my floor plan interesting, with out the tables being too crazy. So I decided to go with X's. This a picture of my floor plan. I will be putting small round tables on the inside of each X for a large Floral arrangements to be while I have eucalyptus garland on the tables.

We are doing this! My coordinator said it's becoming pretty popular. I feel like it helps make the seating chart a bit easier and I like that not all my tables will look exactly the same.

We're doing a mix. Prioritizing the four 10-person tables and filing in with rounds for as many people that we need
