Mixing White & Ivory Colors for Reception Decor

Danica, on December 26, 2019 at 4:11 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

Happy Holidays All!

Hope everyone had a nice one.

Quick question I wanted opinions on.

We are not having flowers (I'm not a big flower person), I want to use some greenery and then LED candles (reception venue doesn't want live flame, and since it's a brunch reception we don't really need to worry about dim candle light).

My theme is minimal edgy boho. Cermony is at 11:30am, so daytime wedding. Reception around 1pm or so (think travel time and photos) at a local restaurant in a private room.

Our reception table is one long table with an ivory/cream/whitish cheesecloth runner, eucalyptus greenery on top of that wound around candles, antlers with tips dipped in gold spread out down the table, birchwood LED candles and some non-birchwood LED candles (either white or ivory). The birchwood are definitely more of an ivory color, but the antlers are white resin with gold tips. I also have custom made signs that I am putting on the tables of various phrases we use with each other, and those will be backed in the same colors as in my invitations sitting in antler card holders, most likely also tip dipped in gold, to add some color pop since there are no florals.

My question is, is it weird to have 2 different shades of "white" for decor items? Photos attached of what I am using (ignore the box in the runner photo)...use your imagination to put all that together on one long darkwood 25 foot table..LOL!

Antler card holder will hold small signs of phrases we use on each other, most likely these would be dipped in gold as well

Any help would be appreciated!

And of course, the eucalyptus down the cheesecloth.

I wouldn't worry about mixing ivory/white/cream; something that monochromatic wouldn't be a big deal.

However, I would advise sticking to one background color for your printed items (I would suggest the hunter green IMO). Keeping décor as cohesive as possible is key.

    Good luck! Smiley laugh

Thanks! My first wedding was all black and white and 175 people so it was a lot easier to do decor...LOL.

Our ceremony is outside on the porch of a 1920's restored house, so I'd be utilizing the candle mix as well on the stairs and at the end of each chair aisle.

Simple, the venue actually is so adorable it doesn't need much decor, and the owner has optional fabric swag she puts up as well to block the door once the ceremony starts.

I could also skip using the backing...because the front of the signs have the exact same antlers with the flowers on them above the words, so that might be enough to bring in some color. They are on the same white cardstock as the invitations

    Hi All,

    Decor update!

Thank you so much for all of your feedback and suggestions, they really helped and let my head clear from spinning with ideas.

I decided to go with just the birchwood candles, and skip the plain ones. I also decided to go with a darker shade of gold on the antlers instead of lighter...photo below for the mockup.

Still going to use artificial eucalyptus greenery on top of the cheesecloth runner (which, BTW, all garland greenery is on sale at Hobby Lobby right now as well as a 40% off coupon!) and a mix of the antlers and birchwood LED candles.

The whole thing is going on a 25 foot dark wood table for 17 people.
