M&ms in Organza Bags Favors

Christine, on December 28, 2018 at 9:36 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11
I'm planning on putting M&Ms in organza pouches as our wedding favors. Since we're having a traditional HUGE Vietnamese wedding and because I'm on winter break (I'm a teacher), I'd love to get a head start on them. The wedding is two months away and I'm not sure when is a good time to start packaging the candies in the pouches before they go bad. I'd appreciate any advice!

I mean, think of how long candy 🍬 is on the shelf. I think you should be fine packaging them a few weeks before the wedding.

I would think it would be fine to package now. I am also a teacher and I was planning on getting personalized M&Ms but they are rather expensive. There was a Groupon at one point but now it’s gone. Where did you buy your candies from?

The only concern I'd have is making sure that the candy, once bagged, can be stored at a stable temperature and humidity -- not too hot, not too cold, not too humid -- as any of those conditions can cause the color to possible bleed on to the bags and/or humidity will cause the candy to get sticky. Honestly, this seems like something that is going to take less than an hour, so I'd probably wait until the week of.

Organza isn’t exactly air tight ... I would not want to do it early unless you still have a plan for air tight storage over the next few weeks...

i agree with pp that unless your wedding has like 500+ guests this is literally an hour (or 2 if you really want to savor doing it?) but I would point out candy on store shelf’s is good for months in its air tight package and begins to go stale when opened so I will be doing candy stuff in last 24-72 hours personally but like I said maybe store in gallon ziplock bags or something if you’re itching to get them done

We're having about 600 guests, so I'm not sure how long it would take to get them done. Would you suggest packaging some of them in the organza pouches then storing the pouches in ziploc bags?

I think that’s your best bet to preserve freshness

you can judt use gallon sized bags and fit several per ziplock

or you could pit the m&m filled organza bags into air tight Tupperware between putting them together now and your wedding

i just think i would definitely store air tight to prevent staleness
