mob and mog Dresses

SLY, on November 19, 2020 at 8:32 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

Hey ya'll

My question is: Where is the best place for MOB and MOG dresses?

Both have been asking me what style/color I want them to wear, but I am kind of at a loss. My mom has a darker olive skin tone with black hair, while FH's mom's skin is very fair with almost bleach blonde hair. I want them both to feel beautiful, but I also want their dress colors to compliment the wedding. (it's not a deal breaker if they don't though!)

I'm thinking of a nice champagne gold for my mom, but I know my FMIL isn't a fan of that color on her (which is def. fine!) Just wanting to know what color you all would suggest for her, and where the most affordable place would be to get these dresses from.

I also want to add that it would be amazing if the company has swatches you can order! (I'm weird about color shades and don't entirely trust online photos lol)

TIA! 🥰

I would look at Nordstrom and Macy's for options.

Azazie also has MOB/MOG dresses! Otherwise, I would check department stores, they usually have some good options as well.

I definitely agree with PP, Lisa, my Mom and Mom #2 will be getting theirs from Azazie and they are quite happy with all the color selection and different style choices they have.

Great thanks! Do you know if they have color swatches to order? My FMIL had shown me a dress off of there and it was labeled 'blush' but was a bubblegum pink in photos 😬

My mom got her dress at Lord & Taylor, and my MIL got hers at David's Bridal. My mom is fair and my MIL has brown hair and a more olive complexion. My mom wore navy and my MIL wore silver. Our colors were gold, rose gold, and blush so their dresses weren't really part of the color scheme, but they coordinated well.

That sounds pretty! Our colors are dove grey, gold, olive green, and white so the champagne on my mom would tie in really nicely! Just have to see what color FMIL would like. I'm fine with pink if that's what she wants, but bubblegum pink is a little too bright.

I'll have them check out those stores!

    GIFT$5
    Winter999

Yes they do, in different fabrics as well. Above I have listed 2 promo codes, the first one listed will save you $5, but if you want to order swatches that total more than that use the Winter999 code to get all your swatches for free.

Yeah, we found that a lot of dresses labeled "mob/mog" looked very frumpy/dowdy. My mom had much better luck just looking at formal gowns at department stores. My MIL looked at a few department stores but ended up finding a pretty lace column dress at David's Bridal. So definitely don't be afraid to look for general formal gowns. Department stores have better return policies anyway, especially if you do online and have them ship dresses. You can try them on at home and just ship back what you don't want.

Lord and Taylor is going out of business so you might can find some good dresses there, but they will be nonreturnable.

I also recommend Macy's! Dillard's is another good option if you have one in your area.

Yes we have all of those in our area! I think I'm going to have a weekend with my FMIL to find her a dress! I think her and my mom would both feel more comfortable if they were able to try on the dresses before purchasing!
