Mob/mog Dress color?

Lindsay, on October 4, 2019 at 11:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

My wedding colors are black and white. So all my bridesmaids are in black, the boys are in black and white tuxedos. All the sites I have read that the mother of the bride typically wears the same color as the bridesmaids and the mother of the grooms dress compliments that color, but i'm not sure what that would be if they are black. Should everyone just wear black? Or mix in neutral-grey like colors to break up the black?

Thanks in advance! Smiley smile

They can wear whatever they want. They don’t need to match or coordinate with the wedding party, they won’t be photographed together anyway.

Our moms will just be in colors in the wedding color scheme! so my future MIL will be in black and the girls will be in olive green and my mom will be in cherry red!

I agree with Caylyn. They should be able to wear whatever colors they want to since they aren't part of your wedding party. The only color I would say they should not wear is white since you will likely be wearing some shade of white.

The parents should be able to wear what they want but like me I think most brides want them somewhat coordinated because they are in family pictures and often there are siblings in the bridal party that will also be in those pics. You could do gray, silver or even a pop of color like red or burgundy for your moms.

How about silvery gray? That’s what I’m thinking!

My daughter is planning a shade of pink or rose for the bridesmaids, so I think my color will be perfect (it would actually work with any color!).

Of course all this is theoretical - I’m excited when we start dress shopping.

Your colors sound great!! Good luck with everything!!

    Gray, Mercury, Platinum, Silver.

MiL (Gray) and my 92 yo Granny (Taupe) wore the same ✨(Sparkly)👗, just different colors.

My girls are in Navy and guys in grey. My mother was set on wearing a navy dress as well so she picked out a cute navy dress that is shorter (to just above her knees). My FMIL wanted to match and this and that and was driving me nuts so I just told her to pick any color that compliments blue, grey or coral (those are our colors) so she bought this deep purple dress. I would let them find whatever they want and are comfortable in Smiley smile

The only instructions I gave my mom was no white, nothing in my wedding color. Other than that, I don’t particularly care. The matching/coordinating thing is so outdated. FMIL, meanwhile, asked for my mother’ Number so they can ‘coordinate’ their outfits. *rolleyes* Oh well, it’s my Mom’s problem, not mine!

I think grey would be nice! I have my MOB and MOG wearing navy as the groomsmen will be in navy with burgundy ties and the bridesmaids are in burgundy and blush makeup

My brother and his brother and sister are in the wedding party so they will be photographed together. I want them to be comfortable wearing what they want. But i just want it to look good as a group as well. Our flowers are very leafy, so maybe even greens would work!

    Thanks ladies!
