Modern or Traditional: Dessert?

Are you serving a traditional, multi-tiered wedding cake at your reception? Or are you switching it up with a more modern, alternative dessert option? Modern I guess. We are doing a small cake to cut and cupcakes for the rest.

Kind of traditional but also kind of modern. We're having cupcakes instead of a tiered cake.

There is no rule we can't do both. A Very Marry Unwedding calls for ungodly amounts of sugar

We plan on doing Nothing Bundt Cakes. We are going to cut into a Bundt cake but the guest will have the option to have bundt cupcakes of different flavors.

Seriously obsessed with your theme idea. I couldn't agree more. A Mad Hatter Tea definitely calls for the unusual & all the sweets. Smiley heart

We are a mix of traditional and modern! we are having a 2-tier cake to cut and then saving the top tier for our 1 year wedding anniversary, then serving gourmet flavored cupcakes to our 275+ guests Smiley laugh

We are having cake only but it wont be a traditional wedding cake. We chose to go seasonal and have a giant Buche de Noel - so a Swiss roll cake because it has a much higher frosting to cake ratio and frosting is the best part. It will still be decorated beautifully with marzipan and meringues but instead of being tall it will be long.

Mixed because we can. I hate cake so this is our trade off.

Hi Jennifer! I love all of these cultural elements in your wedding! Smiley heart This is such a great idea for your wedding dessert. I also have to agree, frosting is most definitely the best part in any cake-to-frosting ratio. Smiley kiss

Thank you! Having our cultures represented is super important to us as is the season. And by changing just the shape of the cake it is costing far less for a far more delicious cake.

We'll have a traditional wedding cake of course, but being that the wedding is in the fall we are considering have some apple pies too

Cross between the two. We will have the tiered cake but also have cheesecake due to knowing some guests and wedding party have gluten allergy

I'm having chocolate and vanilla cupcakes and we are having a two or three tiered wedding cake, but the wedding cake is for everyone also. The cake is a white cake with raspberry in between the tiers. My husband is allergic to caffeine so no chocolate cause that has caffeine in it. Smiley sad

Your cake and cupcake lineup & flavors sound absolutely delicious! Smiley heart

Awww ... coming from a chocoholic myself, that's a shame Smiley sad but I'm sure your white raspberry cake will be amazing too, with chocolate cupcakes as an option, of course! Smiley heart
