Modern or Traditional: Paying for the Wedding

Modern but it isn't working as planned.

Modern! We are paying for everything ourselves! My parents will be making a generous gift but we aren’t accepting the money prior to the wedding so we aren’t counting on any one else’s money!

Modern. We paid for the bulk. His parents did gift us some, but it was a lovely surprise. We budgeted only for what we together could afford.

Traditional. SO so thankful for my parents for taking on this expense.

Mostly modern! We're paying for almost everything for the wedding except the food which my parents are very generously paying for.

Our wedding we'll be in the Dominican Republic and I'll be moving to the States with my partner. He is American and I'm Dominican.

Modern, his parents are helping with a lot of the wedding costs because my single parent mom does not have the funds to contribute. My Gram is paying for the dress and associated costs for that and we are paying for photography and dj.

Budget is tight, we are mostly doing out of our own pockets and both our families are helping along the way.

My parents are very poor so they were unable to contribute. We paid with help from my FIL.

Modern. Each of our parents gratefully offered to cut us a check. They’re about the same so they’re paying about 50/50 and FH and I will cover small costs here and there so we can focus on buying a house

Planning is coming along well! We've crossed off several smaller things off the list this week so I'm feeling good! Can't wait for those 5 months to be over!

Modern.

My FH and I are paying for most of the event ourselves, with the exception of the liquor and the ceremony musician, which my FH's parents have generously offered to cover the expenses for per their family's traditions.

I was pleasantly surprised that we'll even get assistance. My assumption was that myself and my FH would foot the bill. My parents came out of the woodwork to contribute which is sweet of them.

Traditional. We only paid for our attendants gifts and a few odds and ends. I'm forever thankful that my parents wanted to throw this day for us. If they hadn't, we very happily would have eloped. The portions we are paying for ourselves (honeymoon) basically are as cheap as possible so we can focus on buying a house.

Modern. We are footing 100% of the bill.

Modern. I would rather traditional but it is not our case.
